The Cannon Ballers’ 2026 season featured an impressive year from Jaden Fauske, a deep pitching staff, and several recent White Sox draft picks who made an immediate impact.
With a 14-3 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds on Sunday, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, the Low-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, concluded their 2026 season.
Kannapolis won five of its final six games to finish with a 71-61 record. That, however, was not good enough to earn a spot in the Carolina League Division Series.
The Cannon Ballers are the first White Sox affiliate to have their season come to an end. The Winston-Salem Dash have three more games remaining in the regular season before beginning their playoff run. The Double-A Birmingham Barons have one more week and six more games remaining on the schedule, while Triple-A Charlotte will play through September 20.
But now that the season is over in Kannapolis, it’s a good time to look back on 2026 and the White Sox prospects who made the largest impact for the Cannon Ballers.
Jaden Fauske Leads the Kannapolis Offense
Jaden Fauske, an outfielder selected in the second round of the 2025 MLB Draft and currently the No. 8-ranked prospect in the White Sox organization, was a name to watch for the Cannon Ballers all season. He led the team in at-bats, runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, games played, walks, and stolen bases. He also had the highest OPS among the team’s qualified hitters.
Fauske received 436 at-bats during his first professional season, finishing with a .250 batting average, four home runs, 48 RBIs, and 46 stolen bases. He also hit 16 doubles and 10 triples while drawing 94 walks, helping him post a .388 on-base percentage.
Fauske’s athletic profile, offensive production, and natural defensive ability make him a legitimate name to watch in the White Sox farm system as he continues to develop. Turning some of those extra-base hits into home runs will be essential to his progression, but there can be no debating that it was a wildly successful season for Fauske, who will likely begin 2027 with High-A Winston-Salem.
Pitching Anchors the Cannon Ballers
As exciting as Fauske’s season may have been, you can’t talk about the 2026 Cannon Ballers without addressing their pitching. Kannapolis ranked 10th out of 12 Carolina League teams in runs scored. But its 3.78 team ERA ranked second, allowing the team to remain competitive throughout the season.
Many of these impact pitchers won’t be found on Chicago’s top prospect lists. But some of the collegiate arms targeted by the White Sox in recent drafts have found early success as professionals, making them intriguing names to watch as they move beyond Kannapolis and reach higher levels of the minor leagues.
Blaine Wynk was an eighth-round pick by the White Sox in the 2025 MLB Draft out of Ohio State. He led the team with six wins and totaled 66.1 innings for the Cannon Ballers, posting a 2.71 ERA.
Caedmon Parker was a 15th-round selection in the 2025 MLB Draft out of TCU. He pitched 75.1 innings for the Cannon Ballers and went 5-4 with a 3.82 ERA.
Gabe Tanner was an undrafted free agent who made his professional debut with the White Sox organization in 2026. He made 13 starts for Kannapolis, going 5-5 with a 3.66 ERA despite recording only 29 strikeouts over 66.1 innings.
I’d be remiss not to mention right-handed pitcher Max Banks as well. A 14th-round pick in the 2025 MLB Draft out of Washington, Banks posted a 1.84 ERA across 12 outings with the Cannon Ballers. His productivity in Kannapolis quickly earned him a promotion to High-A Winston-Salem, where he has remained since.
2026 White Sox Draft Picks Provide Late Offensive Spark
The Cannon Ballers’ lineup became much more dangerous following the 2026 MLB Draft. The White Sox added several college bats who wasted no time producing as professionals.
Among them was Grayson Fitzwater, a first baseman out of VMI who hit four home runs, drove in 28 runs, and posted an .851 OPS over 107 at-bats after being selected in the 13th round of the 2026 MLB Draft.
Vanderbilt outfielder Braden Holcomb was selected in the 12th round and played 13 games for the Cannon Ballers. He posted a 1.106 OPS with a .333 batting average, six doubles, two triples, and two home runs.
Outfielder Clay Burdette is another player to watch. He was selected in the seventh round and received 106 at-bats with Kannapolis, hitting .274 with two home runs, 22 RBIs, 13 stolen bases, and an .862 OPS. Burdette also recorded six triples in only 29 games.
For a team anchored by its pitching for most of the 2026 season, Kannapolis began showing signs of a high-powered offense near the end of the year. That gives the White Sox another wave of prospects who will be fun to follow moving forward.
Many of the impact players for the Cannon Ballers in 2026 are older collegiate draft picks who should move through the minor leagues quickly. Although the team fell short of the postseason, it was still an encouraging season for the first White Sox affiliate to officially put 2026 in the books.
