Ranking Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Landing Spots Entering Offseason
Nov 3, 2026 11:53 PM

The Yankees have a tough decision to make with Jazz Chisholm this offseason.

The New York Yankees fell short of their goal to win the World Series this past season, losing to the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Division Series.

It was another year of disappointment for the Yankees, seeing the team be knocked out early in the playoffs again. New York hasn't won the World Series since 2009, with the organization only reaching the Fall Classic one time since then.

So, as the Yankees' front office prepares for the upcoming offseason, there are a few big questions to answer. One of the biggest comes from impending free agent outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr., to whom the team has not extended a qualifying offer.

The two sides aren't expected to make a play to reunite, but given where New York is currently, if they can bring Chisholm back for the right price, it could happen. Chisholm had an underwhelming year for the Yankees, leading to a lack of interest in retaining him.

With the Yankees not expected to keep Chisholm this offseason, here are three of the best landing spots for the two-time All-Star

1. San Diego Padres

The Padres feel like the perfect landing spot for Chisholm, with him bringing more energy to an already electric group. San Diego hasn't been able to get over the hump, but Chisholm could bring more power to the lineup.

Putting him alongside Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado could offer the Padres a legitimate trio. Overall, San Diego feels like they should be the top team for the veteran this offseason.

2. Cincinnati Reds

The fit of Chisholm in Cincinnati could work very well, pairing him with Elly De La Cruz for next season. Both players tend to bring the energy whenever on the field, and this could help spark the Reds back into the playoffs.

But the big question around this pairing is whether the Reds front office would be willing to open the checkbook. Cincinnati has typically operated in a different way, and Chisholm may not be the player that the team aggressively goes after.

3. Boston Red Sox

Going from the Yankees to the Red Sox would certainly be a tough sight for fans to see, but the fit is there for Boston. Putting Chisholm's power into Fenway Park with the short porch could work well for the Red Sox.

Chisholm could take over second base for the Red Sox, helping to shore up the position for the team. Boston needs to do something this offseason to keep up with other teams in the AL, and adding the former All-Star could be a start.
