New York Yankees legend CC Sabathia gave his thoughts on the Anthony Volpe situation with the team.

It has been an eventful week for the New York Yankees, starting with the activation of slugger Aaron Judge from the injured list. Judge was out for months, and his absence saw the Yankees' offense take a dive.

New York also placed outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the injured list, losing him for the next few weeks. But one of the biggest stories from the team has been the promotion of infielder Anthony Volpe back to the big leagues following a month-plus stint in the minors.

Volpe had been sent down due to major inconsistency, with the Yankees needing more from him. Now, with the Yankees, Volpe has made an immediate impact, getting four hits over his first two games back.

This includes him hitting a grand slam on Thursday, driving in five runs to help New York take down the Colorado Rockies. Volpe's return has given the Yankees even more life offensively, and his success has been great to see.

Following his return, Yankees legend CC Sabathia took to social media to weigh in on the situation. Sabathia understands the pressure of playing for this franchise, showing the young player some support.

"Incredibly happy for Volpe. All the expectations from the jump..getting sent down..battling adversity…continued to keep his head up and put the work in 🙏🏾," Sabathia wrote.

Overall, Volpe has hit .251 with two home runs, 24 RBIs, and eight stolen bases this year, posting an OPS of .678. The Yankees are hoping that Volpe can continue his emergence after his stint in the minor leagues.

New York will need the infielder's bat down the stretch of the season, and if he can perform well, he is likely to remain in the big leagues. Volpe has said that he wasn't sure if he would return to the majors, but now that he is back, he is looking forward to the challenge of not returning.

“I wanted to get a lot out of it,” Volpe said. “You have a game every night to try out different stuff and feel what works. You feel like it’s going to translate in case an opportunity like this comes. So there was just a lot of trial and error.”

The Yankees are vying for a top spot in the playoffs this year, with the goal being to win the World Series. Volpe could be a major part to this goal, and if he can continue to swing a hot bat, New York could be very tough to deal with come playoff time.
