Kyle Larson moved into NASCAR Cup Series championship contention after snapping a 51-race winless streak at World Wide Technology Raceway Gateway.

MADISON, Ill. -- Kyle Larson moved into NASCAR Cup Series championship contention after snapping a 51-race winless streak at World Wide Technology Raceway Gateway.

Larson led 80 of 247 laps and won the second stage before claiming the Rowdy Trophy for winning Sunday's Enjoy Illinois 300.

Fitting for the week where Larson's team unveiled a scheme for Las Vegas that will throw back to the namesake of the trophy, "Tiny Kyle" scored a big win and gained double-digit points on Denny Hamlin in the championship.

"Just proud of my team for working so hard, being so patient through all the tough times, the winless streak, all that. Thanks to the fans, my fans, for also being patient with us, letting us get it figured out," Larson said. "I haven't doubted myself. I haven't doubted our team. Maybe myself at times. Never my team."

Larson led a 1-2 finish for Hendrick Motorsports. Alex Bowman finished second, just days after losing his dog and described "best friend," Finn.

"Was a really hard weekend just to get on the plane and be here. So yeah, ready to go home. But proud of everybody on this Ally 48 team for helping me through the weekend. Yeah, life is hard sometimes"," Bowman said, tearing up. "Yeah, I lost my best friend, so just ready to go home... I suck here, so clearly I had some help. Yeah, you just never want to see your best friend suffer. Unfortunately the end was pretty bad."

In Sunday's race, Hendrick put three cars in the top-five with William Byron finishing fourth. Byron earned the finish after recovering from a crash on lap 142.

Ahead of Byron, Joey Logano finished third after leading a race-high four times for 96 laps and winning the first stage. He started on the pole after waxing the field by four times but had to hold off several challengers, including Larson and Brad Keselowski.

Keselowski finished 12th on old tires after leading three times for 55 laps and being Logano's closest competitor at times. He raced new rival Carson Hocevar for the lead at one point. Hocevar finished eighth.

Back inside the top-10, Trackhouse Racing finally caught a break in a nightmare 2026 season. Ross Chastain finished fifth while Connor Zilisch finished seventh, tying a career-high finish for the rookie.

In between them, Austin Dillon finished sixth and tied his and Richard Childress Racing's best finish of the 2026 season.

TOP-10 FINISHERS (LAP 240): Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman, Joey Logano, William Byron, Ross Chastain, Austin Dillon, Connor Zilisch, Carson Hocevar, Denny Hamlin, Austin Cindric.

Hamlin had a mediocre day, yet retained the points lead over Kyle Larson.

In 11th, Cole Custer earned his second-best finish of the 2026 season, behind only a 10th-place finish at Daytona two weekends before.

Five other Chase drivers finished the race -- Bubba Wallace (14th), Ryan Preece (17th), Ty Gibbs (18th), Christopher Bell (19th) and Tyler Reddick (25th) -- but five others didn't:

Chris Buescher, Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney fell out of the race after each blowing a brake rotor. They finished 27th, 31st and 35th, respectively.

Elliott's brake rotor failure also collected Chase Briscoe, who finished 32nd. A separate wreck took Daniel Suarez out after 229 laps with a 29th-place finish.

In all, the race saw a season-high 18 cautions. That tied the 2022 Coca-Cola 600 for the most cautions in the NextGen era, dating back to 2022.

STAGE ONE TOP-10 (LAP 45): Joey Logano, Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, Carson Hocevar, Chase Briscoe, Alex Bowman, Ty Gibbs, John Hunter Nemechek.

STAGE TWO TOP-10: Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Ryan Blaney, Josh Berry, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Preece, Tyler Reddick, Chase Briscoe, Bubba Wallace. The stage ended under caution on lap 132, according to NASCAR timing and scoring.
