KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Joey Logano and Kyle Larson will start on the front row for the third NASCAR Cup Series race in a row.

For the first time in the NextGen era and first time at Kansas Speedway (excluding the pandemic era), inclement weather canceled qualifying and set the lineup based on the metric, putting Logano and Larson first and second to start Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400.

This is the second time in the last three weeks Logano will start first. He started first at World Wide Technology Raceway with a blistering lap to win the pole over Larson. Then, the metric put him second to Larson to start the Bass Pro Shops Bristol Night Race.

Larson leads the points by one over Denny Hamlin and 16 over Logano, 17 over Christopher Bell, 42 over Ty Gibbs, 52 over Ryan Blaney and 61 over Tyler Reddick. 

Bell will start third, Gibbs will start fifth and Hamlin will start sixth. However, after relatively poor results at Bristol, Reddick will start 15th and Blaney will start 25th. Blaney led the most laps (202) but crashed after contact with Carson Hocevar, who he fought after the race.

Hocevar will start fourth. Three other Chase drivers will also start in the top-10 -- Bubba Wallace (seventh), William Byron (eighth) and Ryan Preece (ninth) -- while Josh Berry is the only non-Chase driver starting in the top-10.

Here is how the other Chase drivers will start: Austin Cindric (11th), Chris Buescher (12th), Daniel Suarez (14th), Chase Elliott (18th) and Chase Briscoe (23rd).

Elliott won last fall at Kansas. The odds are against him to repeat this year as eight of the nine NextGen Kansas winners came from the first eight starting positions.
