FORT WORTH, Texas -- Justin Allgaier scored a sweet sweep going into the Andy's Frozen Custard 340 at Texas Motor Speedway as the fastest car in practice and qualifying for Saturday's NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race.
Allgaier's No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet will start on the front row with Brandon Jones' No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. It marks the second time Allgaier has started on the pole at the 1.5-mile Texas track and the the 13th time he has done it in his 17-year NOAPS career.
Saturday will mark Allgaier's 29th NOAPS start at Texas. Although he is winless at the track, he has led at least half of the laps he has completed in the last three races here.
Starting on pole sounds like a great step for Allgaier to get his first Texas win but he only has one win from the pole: Charlotte Motor Speedway in May 2023.
Brandon Jones is one driver Allgaier has already been on edge about and will be on edge about Saturday. Jones will start second in what is his best NOAPS start at Texas since getting the pole in fall 2022. His best finish is fourth in fall 2019.
The only other Toyota to start inside the top-10 is Jones' teammate, Brent Crews, who will start fifth. In between Jones and Crews are JRM drivers and Cup Series regulars Kyle Larson and Connor Zilisch, who will start third and fourth.
Rounding out the top-10 behind Crews are Corey Day, Austin Hill, Jeremy Clements, Ryan Sieg and Parker Retzlaff.
Haas Factory Team failed to get any cars in the top-10 to start Saturday's race but came close. Sheldon Creed will start 11th while Sam Mayer will start 17th.
JRM journeymen Rajah Caruth and Carson Kvapil will start 13th and 14th, respectively. Caruth is driving for Jordan Anderson Racing in the No. 32 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet while Kvapil is driving JRM's No. 9 Arby's Chevrolet.
Austin Green earned his best oval NOAPS start, coming up 19th in qualifying.
Richard Childress Racing's Austin Dillon and Jesse Love struggled in qualifying, ending up 20th and 21st, respectively, to start Saturday's race.
