LINCOLN, Ala. -- Tyler Reddick announced Sunday on FOX Sports he has signed a multi-year contract extension with 23XI Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Reddick will remain the driver of the No. 45 Toyota Camry XSE for 2027 and beyond. The exact terms of the deal weren't disclosed and it's unknown if it includes an extension for crew chief Billy Scott.

The deal is seemingly a no-brainer for everyone involved. Reddick has won an historic five of the first nine Cup Series races in 2026, joining Dale Earnhardt, Cale Yarborough and Darrell Waltrip as the only drivers in series history to accomplish such a feat.

After winning the Daytona 500, Reddick won at EchoPark Speedway Atlanta and Circuit of the Americas. In doing so, he became the only driver to start a Cup season with three wins in a row.

Beyond winning the first three races of the season, Reddick had a come-from-behind win at Darlington Raceway and seized upon Kyle Larson in overtime to win at Kansas Speedway.

As a result of the success and NASCAR's new points system to better reward race winners, Reddick has a 105-point lead after just nine races.

Reddick's teammate, Bubba Wallace, signed a multi-year contract extension in late-2024 that will see him remain the driver of the No. 23 Toyota Camry XSE for at least this year. However, his performance and signing sponsors like Hardee's, to replace McDonalds, has garnered him a solid future with the team.

Riley Herbst is in a different position. In 2025, he finished 35th in the Cup points standings with only one finish better than 17th (14th at Texas Motor Speedway in May) and a total of two laps led and an average finish of 26.4.

This season has been better for Herbst, who already has two finishes better than 17th in just nine races (eighth in the Daytona 500, 14th at Kansas). He is also up seven spots from where he finished in the standings and has a better average finish (23.3) but is still lagging behind his teammates, including part-time teammate Corey Heim.

Heim has three finishes of 17th or better in 23XI equipment, including a sixth-place finish in last year's Bristol night race. In just six races, the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion has effectively matched Herbst's efforts in 45 races.

It remains to be seen if Herbst will return to the team in 2027 or if Heim will get the No. 35 car. Heim has 13 more races this season in the part-time No. 67 car.
