If you're looking for a lifelong Minnesotan and current New Mexican, whose friends and family go to when they have the question, “What should I know about NASCAR?”, I'm your guy.
In 2002, I watched my first ever NASCAR race -- the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono where Dale Jr and Steve Park crashed on the opening lap and Bill Elliott won. Through the years, I have collected diecasts, made YouTube videos -- including stop motions and diecast reviews -- and sim raced on NASCAR Racing 2003 Season (about 30 wins to my name!) Along the way, I got into the media side of the sport with The Racing Experts, thanks to my colleague and good friend Dominic Aragon. We worked together to build the site into something that allowed us to gain annual NASCAR credentials and the ability to tell stories for ourselves at the track.
I've had the opportunity to cover the Daytona 500, five NASCAR Championship Weekends, the first-ever NASCAR Cup Series street race and races all over the country, including at Talladega Superspeedway, Kansas Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway. I've told all sorts of stories, from Shane van Gisbergen’s breakthrough Chicago win to the three-wide photo finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway to the first NASCAR disqualification in over four decades at Iowa in 2019. It’s hard to call it work when you're having fun… and nothing beats a day at the track.
My background has taken me into the world of news, including local TV. It has been exciting to learn about the digital media landscape as it continues its ever-evolving process, even changing by the day at times. With an ever-changing media landscape, Roundtable is an exciting venture!
This site is going to be something you'll find fun, familiar and informative. My goal has been to engage with people and tell stories that you have been itching to know about or ask about -- I was in that spot too. I have done this with MOS pieces like at Chicago when I talked to people who were attending the Street Race about what brought them out, to grasp how NASCAR's efforts were working in the Windy City.
This site feels like an enhanced way of bringing together all aspects of the sport, from the fanbase to my media center space to the headspace of drivers, crew chief and a who's who, garden variety in NASCAR. I hope y'all enjoy what is to come!
