Fresh off a 2-0 start, the 76ers aim to exploit Milwaukee’s defensive woes, as Jaylen Brown and Joel Embiid prepare to dominate a depleted Bucks rotation.
The Philadelphia 76ers have started the season 2-0 and will look to the Milwaukee Bucks to keep the ball rolling.
This could be a game where not all the stars have to play. Game management may not be a real thing anymore, but this could be a rest game for someone like LeBron James, who will have lingering back problems throughout the season.
The Bucks are a team of very few stars; they brought in Tyler Herro and a few other players from the Miami Heat in a trade involving Giannis Antetokounmpo. Since his departure, the Bucks have been ranked 26th in defensive rating. A statistic that bodes well for the 76ers who are top five in scoring. No, it is only two games, but this could be a landslide victory for the 76ers. They may even be able to work on the problems in the paint. Besides Myles Turner, the paint is an open book for Philadelphia.
As for Philadelphia and what they could do in this game, it’s quite the list. Rebounding has been the biggest concern, and with a player like Turner who isn’t the best at rebounding, it could be something that plays into the 76ers' favor. Look for VJ Edgecombe to score a bit more in this game. Herro is the team's best defender, and he’ll surely garner the attention of Tyrese Maxey, who has led the team in scoring the last two games.
With Herro occupied, that means Jaylen Brown and Edgecombe are ready to take the reins in the scoring department. Brown came alive offensively in the last game, showing that he won’t be forgotten, and this could be his game. This could be the coming-out party many have been waiting to see since he joined the 76ers. Brown is an isolation player, and he needs the ball in his hands. There will be plenty of opportunities for the former all-star to get his.
Now there’s Joel Embiid; his primary objective would be Turner, and that could be barbeque chicken for the big man. Turner is a great defender in the paint, but with Embiid and his tendency to hang outside the paint, it could make life rough for Turner. Look for Embiid to have a game himself and create mismatches for his teammates.
Philadelphia is riding high after their win against the Cavaliers. If this team can handle the Bucks like they should, it could add to their confidence and show that it’s only a matter of time before they take the top spot in the East.
