76ers May Be Forced To Live and Die by Their Star-Studded Offense

This Philadelphia 76ers offense is going to have to be the driving force for this team if they want to win consistently.

For the last month or so, all anyone has talked about is what fiery offense this team will have and how no team can hang with this starting lineup and what they have collectively. Well, based on how the team has performed in the preseason, it’s going to have to be all offense for this team. The defense has left much to be desired, and it’s just going to be a heavy reliance on their four All-Stars to get the job done.

Dean Wade doesn’t see a problem with any of this and has spoken confidently about just how potent this offense is.

“When they throw it to Jo on the block, we’re gonna double, but who are you gonna double off? They’re feeding off the spacing, and it feels impossible to keep those guys out of the paint. They’re generating great looks every single time.”  Wade said when asked about the team's offensive powerhouse.

Well, Wade’s optimism certainly makes things a bit better considering the last two preseason games have been a complete train wreck for the 76ers. In one game there’s a bunch of sluggish play. Then, an absolute blowout by a division rival. All of this has many wondering if this team can handle being in this kind of spotlight. The lights may be too bright, and they may just fall on their face defensively.

So, the only thing to hang their hat on is their offense. But what are they going to do if the team is in an offensive rut? There will be games where the team hits a bump in the road, and it’s going to take more than outscoring your opponent to get the job done. If that’s what this team is going to go all in on, then they’ll just be the Denver Nuggets of the Eastern Conference.

There’s always going to be skeptics out there who let it be known this team is full of injured players; that just comes with the territory at this point. But if the one thing that is supposed to be this team’s strength turns out to be a fault, then they have nowhere else to turn.

In the preseason, the turnovers were egregious, and that can be attributed to defense but also to an offense that doesn’t know how to get going. LeBron James has to be the voice in the locker room to get this team on the right track. If not, this offense is doomed to season full of mediocrity, and if they won’t earn them a spot in the playoffs, let alone the NBA Finals.
