A Milwaukee Bucks center was recently named as the perfect trade target for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Joel Embiid is never on the court consistently for the Philadelphia 76ers, making the rest of Philadelphia's frontcourt one of the most important supporting casts in the NBA.
With roughly two weeks until the trade deadline, Embiid is supported by Adem Bona, Andre Drummond, and Dominick Barlow. Bona is a youthful, second-round pick averaging 4.2 points and 4.0 rebounds, Drummond is a regressing veteran, and Barlow primarily plays power forward. All this to say, it's clear an upgrade or two could work wonders for Philadelphia and Embiid.
Enter a deal for Milwaukee Bucks big man Bobby Portis, who FanSided believes is the "perfect" trade target for the Sixers.
"The 76ers have a stronger cast of backup bigs behind Joel Embiid this time around, but an upgrade will further elevate their floor as a collective," FanSided's Nicolas Kyle Pring wrote. "Portis, who has been one of the best bench catalysts in the league this decade, would fit them like a glove."
Portis is having another solid campaign in Milwaukee, averaging 13.2 points and 6.4 rebounds on 49% shooting and 46.7% shooting from three-point range in 43 games played. What diversifies him from the rest of the Sixers' center room is his ability to consistently knock down shots from the outside. He attempts 4.2 three-pointers per game.
Not to mention, Portis won an NBA championship with the Bucks in 2021, so he's no stranger to performing on the biggest stage if the 76ers are able to make a deep postseason run.
The weakest point of Portis' skillset is his defense, as he records just 0.6 steals and 0.2 blocks per game and is simply outplayed in the paint in many matchups. Next to Giannis Antetokounmpo, these woes are often hidden, but it could become a problem when he's called upon to start in place of Embiid.
