The Philadelphia 76ers have 25 games remaining in the regular season to shore up their seeding in the Eastern Conference.
Philadelphia made good progress on this Sunday night, as it took down Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
One of the best performers for the 76ers against the Timberwolves was second-unit guard Quentin Grimes, who recorded 19 points, seven assists, and three rebounds on 58.3% shooting and 5 of 8 shooting from three-point range in 28 minutes of action.
This matches Grimes' highest-scoring game of 2026, as he has struggled to find a rhythm in recent months. Coming off one of his better games of the year, Grimes revealed his goal for the final stretch of the NBA season to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Gina Mizell.
"Yet Grimes’ goal for the rest of the season is to consistently stay in “attack mode,” no matter who is on the floor with him," Mizell wrote.
This goal makes perfect sense for Grimes, who is the hopeful X-factor of this 76ers team. The 2024-2025 season proved what he is capable of, as he averaged 21.9 points on 46.9% shooting in 28 appearances for Philadelphia. It's worth noting he put up these numbers in a starting role, but 76ers coach Nick Nurse is giving him a similar number of minutes off the bench.
For the 76ers to find success in the postseason, the No. 1 priority is for Joel Embiid to be healthy. Behind that is the supporting cast putting up strong numbers, which includes Grimes.
Grimes also shared what the key to him finding success is after the Timberwolves game.
“If I kind of just stick to my game, stick to who I am,” Grimes said from his locker Sunday, per Mizell. “...Good things happen.”
It's clear the Timberwolves game worked wonders for Grimes to understand how he needs to approach the game moving forward.
