Could 76ers Move On From 24-Year-Old Forward?

Now that the season is closing in, there’s not much more that the Philadelphia 76ers can do in terms of adding to the team. The only way that they can add to their roster is if they subtract another in a trade. 

So the question is, which player could be the most valuable as a trade asset in training camp. There are quite a few players that could be named, but the one that could turn heads is Jabari Walker. Walker is a young star who managed to show some promise from last season. He averaged 4.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in just under 12 minutes per game. His numbers may be low, but his shooting percentage wasn’t too bad. 

He shot at 45.5 percent from the field and just over 33.7 percent from the three-point line. Walker earned a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, and he was showing promise as a rebounder. The thing is, his small sample size as a player could be the thing that keeps him off the team. If that happens, then he could definitely be a person of interest in terms of trade value. While his name isn’t well known, there will be some teams who are looking for a rebounding forward. He would also be a wonderful asset to any team, as his energy is infectious.

This team is in dire need of center depth, and if Walker can be of use to improve upon that depth, then there's no doubt Walker will be out the door. Walker could have been part of the equation, that is, until LeBron James and Jaylen Brown were acquired in the offseason. Besides, it’s not like the team doesn’t have enough at the forward position. 

A team like the New Orleans Pelicans would be a team that could be in the market for a player like Walker. His contract is a huge plus for any team, as he’s only owed just over two million dollars. If he could go somewhere like New Orleans, it could be the break they need. In terms of who they want for him, they could go for Deandre Jordan. Now Jordan is definitely not a spring chicken, but he could provide them with that center depth they've been looking for. It could also help the team when it comes to rebounding, as Jordan is one of the best rebounders in NBA history. 

No matter what the team decides, it has to be a move that makes sense.
