Kwame Brown is at it again. Now, he dismisses the Philadelphia 76ers' workout thinking it means very little.
Kwame Brown has opened his mouth again to speak on the Philadelphia 76ers. This time, he wants to speak on the current workout videos swirling around the internet. In these videos, it shows LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, and Tyrese Maxey, among others, doing workout drills in a gym.
The former NBA star tells people that they shouldn’t be excited about guys shooting around. In his mind, none of this will matter until they get the season underway. Kwame Brown has always had some outlandish takes that make people turn heads, but this one has to be full of jealousy.
This is a guy who had a tough go during his time in the NBA, and it seems to be some projection onto this 76ers team.
But in a way, he’s right. Workouts don’t hold a candle to real-life action. It’s more physical, and it can take a toll on you on a nightly basis. However, the argument of guys being sore and this being a problem for someone like James holds zero weight. He forgets James isn’t here to score; it’s his job to get everyone else involved. He’ll only call on his number when the time is right. The videos are to establish what everyone else is capable of executing.
So once again, what exactly are we talking about here? Has there really been a team that James was on, when healthy, that didn’t have a successful season? There's really something to be said about a former player that details one thing and makes it the basis for the entire argument. It seems like we’re forgetting about everyone around James.
It's understandable that he’s detailing the team and how they will have a hard time getting along, but that’s every team. The hype surrounding this team is because it’s about the collective. Let’s say James has a hard time acclimating with the team; that has no bearing on everyone else.
Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid, as well as VJ Edgecombe, aren’t new to each other. So, with that being said, the team will be just fine no matter who is having a rough patch. When there are struggles throughout the season, it won’t be anything that any other team won't experience.
Have people forgotten that James’ Miami Heat team experienced this same criticism and still made it to the NBA Finals? So what makes this any different? This team didn’t get together and put in work the way this 76ers team is doing. Philadelphia has four all-stars for a reason, and this is going to be their chance to prove it.
So even if there is a slow start, there’s enough experience to overcome it and be a threat in the East.
