A mutual connection between Tyrese Maxey and LeBron James could help the Philadelphia 76ers land the former Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

The Philadelphia 76ers being home to All-NBA guard Tyrese Maxey could benefit them in an unexpected way.

The 76ers, after trading for former Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown, began finding themselves linked to free agent forward and 22-time All-Star LeBron James. It's not just speculation, as The Athletic's Tony Jones reported Philadelphia is expressing interest in James.

One connection James has to Philadelphia is through Maxey, as the two stars are both a part of Klutch Sports agency. NBA insider Brian Windhorst explained on NBA Today that this could help the Sixers land James.

"A key factor in any sort of Philadelphia pursuit of LeBron is Tyrese Maxey," Windhorst said. "Not only because of his talent, which is awesome, but he's one of Klutch's core clients. He's basically a part of LeBron's extended family."

Maxey is not the only person in the Sixers' organization with ties to James.

President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey worked for the Cleveland Cavaliers when James returned for his second tenure. A photo of Gansey and James in high school also resurfaced and went viral on social media after the former's brother posted it to X.

Superstar center Joel Embiid was also a teammate of James during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the USA won the gold medal. So, Embiid and James have already experienced winning at the highest level together.

The 76ers are reportedly facing steep competition across the association to acquire James, however. The Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Miami Heat are rumored as the frontrunners in the sweepstakes for the four-time NBA champion.

Regardless of whether or not the 76ers are able to bring in James, the addition of Brown instantly vaulted them among title contenders in the strengthening Eastern Conference.
