Nick Nurse has a large task of bringing a championship to Philadelphia. When media day gets here, he'll have that and much more to answer.
Now that media day is almost here, many people will have questions for the players and how everyone will address their new team.
The Philadelphia 76ers have more questions than most. Not only for the players, but for head coach Nick Nurse as well. It’s hard to know what to expect, but there are three big questions to answer:
How can Nurse handle so many all-stars on one team?
For Nurse, he has his hands full with this roster. From Jaylen Brown and LeBron James to Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. It’s a who’s who of players on this roster, and it’s Nurse’s job to make sure they stay committed to the task at hand and try to keep their egos in check. The best thing about this team is that no one really expects these players to be full of themselves. Nurse has had to deal with this in the past, and it’s what makes him a great fit for this team.
What will James’ role be with the team?
Everybody knows that the ball has to fall into James' hands at some point, but everyone wants to know from the horse's mouth, how will he impact this team? That’s why Nurse is going to have to address this immediately so there’s no confusion. People are going to wonder who is the real leader and who will have the ball in their hands when the game is on the line. Nurse will have to set the player up in ways that best help the team win, and it could be the chance for Nurse to inform everyone if, in fact James will be the one running point for most of the season.
Will Embiid be on a minute restriction to keep him healthy?
Embiid is going to be Nurse’s biggest priority throughout the season. So it’s only right that they question how he can keep the franchise’s best center upright and fresh for a potential playoff run. There are only a few answers that Nurse can give when it comes to this subject. The team will go as far as Embiid can take them, and it’s really going to be tough for Nurse to keep spirits high if Embiid is in and out of the lineup.
This 76er is stacked. The head coach has achieved more than most. As a former coach of the year and NBA champion, he is going to have much to answer for. What’s going to make it tougher is if they fall short of the goal that is to win a championship.
