Well, the Philadelphia 76ers have won the hearts of many now that they’ve added players like LeBron James and Jaylen Brown. So could it be time to crown them the sports team of Philadelphia?
It’s going to be hard to beat out the Philadelphia Eagles, who have been hot over the last few years. They aren’t that far removed from bringing home the Lombardi trophy. With that being said, this could be the year the hype goes to the basketball club. Just think about it for a second. Not only are they bringing in the greatest player of this generation, they have pushed for the team to be the focal point of the offseason. This team will be televised all throughout the season, and that spells big bucks for the franchise and the city.
The 76ers have fans clamoring about their season, and it’s the most excited anyone has been in years when it comes to this team. There’s something to be said when the regular season always leaves a stale taste in your mouth. It makes it extremely hard to be confident when you know one of your players is going to get hurt at some point, and no matter how well you play, you’ll find yourself having an early exit from the playoffs.
That injured player that gets everyone so disgruntled is Joel Embiid, and this season he’s expecting to play most of the season after getting his body right. So there are big expectations from him to be healthy this season. Even if he isn’t, the fans shouldn’t have any concern considering they have the King to help guide the ship.
There’s also a revamped bench to be excited about. The bench only averaged 32.4 points, and this season that point total should increase. They have players who can score like Anfernee Simons and Dean Wade. Not to mention, they added veteran player Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who is going to be a great on-ball defender and spot-up shooter.
This team is so dynamic they can score from anywhere on the court, and that’s what makes this team so lethal. You even have wildcards like VJ Edgecombe and rookie Labaron Philon Jr., a player who could play some important minutes when called upon. It’s just so much to be excited about with this team that you can overlook the continued remarks about how healthy this team will be if someone goes down.
When the season starts, expect the house to be packed as fans run to cheer for the new favorite team in Philadelphia.
