Brayden Burries turned heads with his Summer League performances.
The Milwaukee Bucks picked twice in the lottery in the 2026 NBA Draft, and they spent the 10th overall pick on guard Brayden Burries out of Arizona. At Arizona, Burries was a ball-dominant guard who showed a variety of skills.
In his lone season with the Wildcats, Burries averaged 16.1 points per game, 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.5 steals. He also shot an efficient 39.1 percent from long range, making him a true offensive threat for one of the best teams in the country.
Burries showcased those same skills that got him drafted in this year's Summer League. During the Summer League, he averaged 23.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, and 2 steals. His stats were good enough to lead every guard in those categories.
Burries was able to produce on and off the ball on offense, and on defense, he made plays that showed he was the best player on the court. He played well enough to make the Summer League First Team. If Burries can develop into this type of player at the next level, Milwaukee may have found its guard of the future.
How Effective Will Burries be his Rookie Season?
Throughout the Summer League, it was clear Brayden Burries was one of the best guards from this draft class, and his performance may influence the Bucks coaching staff to give him more minutes when the season arrives.
The Bucks are in a tough position when it comes to their backcourt. The franchise just re-signed Gary Trent Jr. to a 4-year, $64 million deal, and they traded for Tyler Herro in the Giannis Antetokounmpo deal that sent him to the Miami Heat. The Bucks have another young guard in Ryan Rollins who is coming off a breakout season.
Benny Sieu-Imagn ImagesRegardless of how the Bucks' backcourt will look, Burries has earned the right to get significant playing time this summer. His athleticism and instincts on the court have helped him stand out, and that kind of play could translate to the NBA.
Gary Trent Jr. and Tyler Herro are also veteran players, and the franchise has to see what they have in their rookie at some point this season. Both players could be used as potential trade pieces of Burries emerges as a top candidate for Rookie of the Year as well.
Milwaukee may have picked one of the best players of the class at 10th overall, and now it's on them to get the most out of his upcoming rookie season.
