The Bucks are moving their home opener to the afternoon as Milwaukee prepares to host its first World Series since 1982.
Milwaukee sports fans will have an earlier start to the Bucks’ home schedule after the Brewers’ postseason run prompted a change.
The Bucks announced Friday that their Oct. 23 home opener against the Chicago Bulls will begin at 3 p.m. Central instead of 7 p.m., accommodating the Brewers’ World Series opener later that evening.
The adjustment follows Milwaukee’s sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. The Brewers completed the series Thursday with a 6-4 victory, securing their first World Series appearance since 1982.
For the Bucks, the change gives their home opener an unusual afternoon setting. For fans following both teams, it creates a chance to watch the basketball game before turning their attention to baseball.

The Bucks’ matchup with Chicago remains on Friday, Oct. 23. The announcement changes the start time, moving the game four hours earlier.
For viewers outside Wisconsin, the new tipoff is 4 p.m. Eastern and 1 p.m. Pacific. Milwaukee’s announcement tied the decision directly to the Brewers hosting Game 1 of the World Series that evening.
That distinction matters for fans who already planned around the original evening start. Anyone attending the Bucks game will need to account for an afternoon arrival, including work schedules and transportation.
The earlier tip also changes the viewing window for fans watching from home. Instead of having the two events compete for attention during the evening, the Bucks will play first.
A home opener typically gives a fan base its first regular-season look at its team inside its own arena. Milwaukee will still have that occasion, with the added backdrop of a baseball championship series beginning in the same city.
Brewers Create a Historic Occasion
The Brewers’ breakthrough made this more than an ordinary scheduling conflict.
Milwaukee had waited 44 years to return to the World Series. By eliminating the Dodgers in four games, the Brewers ended that wait without needing the remaining games of the NLCS.
Their return gives local fans a rare championship opportunity to follow just as the NBA season begins.
Moving the basketball game earlier is a practical response to that overlap. Fans will still have to make their own attendance plans, but they will no longer have to choose between watching the Bucks’ opening tip and following an evening baseball game at the same time.
The announcement also provides a reminder to check updated game information. Schedules published before Friday’s change may still display the original start.
The key details for Bucks fans are straightforward: Chicago remains the opponent, Oct. 23 remains the date, and tipoff is now scheduled for the afternoon.
Milwaukee’s basketball home opener will begin a day of sports that ends with the Brewers back on baseball’s biggest stage.
