The Milwaukee Bucks made a starting lineup change against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

After starting the season 1-5, the Milwaukee Bucks decided it was time for a change against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Unfortunately, the change didn't result in a different outcome, as the Bucks dropped to 1-6 against the Timberwolves on Monday night.

What exactly did the Bucks try to do, though? They changed their starting lineup and included rookie Brayden Burries in that change.

Their new lineup consisted of Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kyle Kuzma, Myles Turner, Tyler Herro, and Brayden Burries.

How did Brayden Burries do in the Starting Lineup?

From an offensive perspective, Burries underwhelmed in the starting lineup. He put up 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 assist on 26.7% shooting from the field. The Bucks gave him 15 shot attempts, which was great for his development, but he only made four shots.

The 9 rebounds were certainly something the team needed, as he led the starting lineup on the boards. After the game, Burries actually admitted that rebounding gets him going.

"Finding other ways to impact the game or winning outside of scoring," Burries said. "Shot wasn't falling today, it happens. It's natural."

Burries went on to add that he's simply trying to rebound and put himself in a position to be successful. It's a great mindset for the 21-year-old rookie to have, and one that makes sure he isn't above the dirty work on a team.

What Did Burries Say About Starting?

Anytime an NBA player gets an opportunity to start, it's an important moment in their career. Not every rookie has that opportunity; for example, the number five overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft, Keaton Wagler, still hasn't started yet.

After the game, Burries was asked about starting, and he sounded grateful for the opportunity.

"Felt pretty good, especially out there. But yeah, it was definitely a good opportunity for the guys to showcase," Burries said.

For as much as Burries struggled on the offensive end, he still had the best plus/minus out of everyone in the starting lineup, with a -4.

While Bucks fans may not be used to their team completely underperforming and starting a season with a 1-6 record, it's something they'll have to get acclimated to.

In order for young players like Brayden Burries to get better, they'll have to fall flat on their faces sometimes. That level of patience is something that'll pay off down the line as Burries develops.

It's hard to say when exactly the Milwaukee Bucks will win a game again, because their schedule does not get any easier from here. Their next five games are against the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics again, New York Knicks, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The schedule will get a little easier after that span of five games, but it's not going to get any easier for Brayden Burries and this young Milwaukee Bucks team as they learn to develop amid a treacherous Eastern Conference.
