The Bucks added an impactful power forward.
The Milwaukee Bucks have been busy this offseason and they just added another key signing to their roster and cashed in a draft pick from 2025 who could prove to be a massive plus for the rebuilding Milwaukee squad.
Per a report from Jake Fischer, the Bucks have signed 2025 second round pick Bogoljub Markovic to a second-round pick exemption, meaning that they can now sign Markovic to a multi-year deal which they cashed in on by signing him to a four-year, $9.3 million deal.
The Bucks selected Markovic 47th-overall in the 2025 draft, but he's yet to appear in a NBA game as he's been busy playing overseas with Mega MIS of the ABA in the EuroLeague for the last four seasons, where he's made quit a name for himself.
This past season, the 20-year-old power forward averaged 16.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 31.3 minutes per game while winning ABA league MVP.
Much-Needed Size
Standing at 6'11, Markovic fills the exact kind of need that the Bucks have on their roster and gives them the kind of size that they need replicate now that Giannis Antetokounmpo isn't with the team anymore.
The Bucks still have a lot of options ahead of them this offseason and could do even more to add strength to the power forward slot, most notably with a big move like signing Jonathan Kuminga, but bringing Markovic aboard for multiple years is a big step in the right direction for the Bucks.
Of course, it still remains to be seen what Markovic can do on a NBA court, but at just 20-years-old, his raw physical talent makes him a great candidate for further development under head coach Taylor Jenkins and is yet another young player that the Bucks can plan their future with as they try to make the most of their rebuild while only having committed to it for the past few weeks.
An Offensive Threat
Markovic stands out as a 50+% shooter from the field and he's a decent three point threat shooting 31.8%, so there are even more tools available to him than just his presence as a physical defender.
The Bucks continue to add to their depth and they've shown that they're willing to make moves both big and small to change up the team and try to restore a culture of success to the Bucks after the most disappointing season in a decade.
There could still be more moves yet to come, but the signing of Markovic shows that the Bucs are willing to do the work to make fundamental additions to the team and aren't content to just stay still after receiving a haul for Antetokounmpo.
