What's next for the Milwaukee Bucks?
The Milwaukee Bucks busy offseason might be over after the dust has settled on some of the top restricted free agents and a big-name unrestricted free agent.
Throughout the offseason, the Bucks have been linked to Los Angeles Clippers restricted free agent Bennedict Mathurin and Denver Nuggets restricted free agent Peyton Watson. They’ve also reportedly had their sights set on unrestricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.
All three of those players have found a new home over the past week, with Mathurin agreeing to a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, Kuminga agreeing to a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Nuggets working out a trade to send Watson to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
An Already Busy Offseason
They are already at the roster limit, so any move would require another move.
The Bucks have already had a transformative offseason where they traded Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat in exchange for Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakučionis, and a trove of draft picks.
Included in that trove was the 13th overall pick in the 2026 draft, which they used to select Nate Ament. They had already selected Brayden Burries with the tenth overall pick in the draft.
Along with the blockbuster Giannis trade, the team acquired Caris LeVert from the Detroit Pistons and re-signed Ousmane Dieng and Gary Trent Jr to new deals.
What’s Next For Milwaukee?
Rumors will continue to swirl around the likes of Tyler Herro, Myles Turner, and Kyle Kuzma as potential trade candidates, but Herro and anyone acquired in the trade with Miami can’t be dealt until September 6.
Herro’s name popped up immediately after the trade in rumors, as did Jaquez Jr, but those rumors have died down as the offseason has gone along and Milwaukee has missed out on potential sign-and-trade opportunities to acquire Mathurin, Watson, or Kuminga.
Turner was signed last offseason to a monster four-year, $108 million deal that includes a player option. While Milwaukee might want to move off the deal, finding a suitor will be much easier said than done.
Kuzma is in the last year of his deal, which pays him $20.4 million. His value is at its lowest at the moment.
With training camps quickly approaching and the dust settling on the dog days of free agency, it’s likely that Milwaukee and most teams around the league are done making major moves heading into the season.
While anything can happen in the NBA, expect a quiet rest of the offseason for the Bucks.
