Things are tense in Milwaukee.

As if they needed it, there's more turmoil with the Milwaukee Bucks

It started, like it has many times this season, with Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Milwaukee superstar and former MVP hasn't played since March 15 after suffering a hyperextended knee and bone bruise, but by Antetokounmpo's own admission, he's healthy and ready to play again.

Despite that, the Bucks haven't been playing their superstar and his absence on the court is starting to raise some eyebrows within the NBA.

Bucks Investigated

A report by ESPN's Shams Charania said that the NBA is now investigating the Bucks after Antetokounmpo made comments not only saying he was was healthy, but that he was frankly furious and frustrated that he wasn't being cleared to play.

The NBA has been much more aggressive about their efforts to curb tanking by team's this season than they have in years past and this investigation into lack of competitiveness and a potential violation of the player participation policy.

Milwaukee head coach Doc Rivers has since responded to Antetokounmpo's comments and he's clearly not happy about the way the face of the franchise is handling the situation.

Rivers Responds

"This is a grown man's game and it should be handled that way by everybody. I don't like when it's 'he said, she said' stuff," Rivers said (via Bucks). "It's not good. Just from that seat the fact that I have to sit up here and keep addressing it, it bothers me and we need to do something about it."

Antetokounmpo's relationship with the team couldn't ever be described as positive this season, but it reached this kind of level.

In the past, Antetokounmpo's frustrations were directed at the poor performance of the team and that he wanted to be on a contender. Of course, rumors that he would force a trade at the deadline swirled throughout the early part of the season, but he ultimately stayed and even made a point of praising his own loyalty.

Never before had the relationship between Antetokounmpo and team leadership been so publicly sour. What's now unfolding is a clear and potentially irreparable breakdown in the relationship between the Bucks and their biggest star.

Antetokounmpo has been increasingly loose with his comments to the media as his frustration has built over the course of the season, but openly calling for an investigation into his own team to try and force his way back on the court is another level entirely.

The entire season has been a rocky road between Antetokounmpo and his team of 13 seasons, but there may be no going back now.
