Giannis Fires Back at Trade Rumors Involving His Camp cover image

Giannis directly addresses trade speculation, refuting rumors about his "camp."

Giannis Antetokounmpo has heard enough about the trade rumors, and he wants everyone to know exactly how he feels about Milwaukee.

The two-time MVP sat down with ESPN's Malika Andrews during All-Star Weekend and shut down the noise that has followed him and the Bucks all season long.

"I can't predict the future," Antetokounmpo said. "I love wearing that jersey. I will never, ever disrespect people that have helped me."

Giannis Calls Out the Noise

The Bucks star didn't stop there, going after the idea that people close to him have been pushing for a move away from Milwaukee, saying that when he tells people he won't demand a trade, they don't listen and instead go looking for information from what they call "the Giannis camp."

"People don't listen to what I'm saying," Antetokounmpo continued. "They go and listen to everything around me, the Giannis camp. I have no camp. My camp is my wife, my kids, my brothers. That's my camp."

The comments came after months of speculation that ramped up heading into the February 5 trade deadline, with teams like the Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat reportedly showing interest in acquiring the 10-time All-Star.

Milwaukee listened to offers but ultimately kept their franchise player, and Antetokounmpo responded by posting the famous "I'm not leaving" clip from The Wolf of Wall Street on social media moments after the deadline passed.

The Injury Situation

On top of the trade talk, Giannis has been dealing with a right calf strain that has kept him out of the lineup since January 23, which is also why he was unable to play in the 2026 All-Star Game despite being voted in for his 10th All-Star selection.

Antetokounmpo gave a positive update at All-Star Media Day on Saturday, telling reporters that he feels "100 percent" and is just waiting to check off the final boxes in his rehab before getting back on the court.

It has been a rough year for the Greek Freak health-wise, as he first dealt with a groin strain in November that led to a seven-game losing streak, and then re-injured his right calf on January 23 against the Denver Nuggets after coming back from the first calf issue just weeks earlier.

Where Things Stand for Milwaukee

The Bucks sit at 23-30 heading into the second half of the season and are 12th in the Eastern Conference, which puts them 1.5 games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the final play-in spot.

In 30 games this season, Antetokounmpo has averaged 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists while shooting 64.5 percent from the field, showing that he is still one of the most dominant players in the league when healthy.

Milwaukee did pick up some help around the deadline, signing Cam Thomas after the Brooklyn Nets waived the young guard and also bringing in Ousmane Dieng, both of whom have already shown flashes of what they can bring to this team.

The Bucks won five of their last six games heading into the All-Star break, and with Giannis possibly returning when Milwaukee takes the court against the New Orleans Pelicans on February 20, there is still a reason for fans to believe the second half of the season could look a lot different than the first.
