Kasparas Jakucionis had his first experience with a trade in the NBA after coming over to the Bucks.
The Milwaukee Bucks received a massive haul in exchange for trading Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat with a massive group of young and talented players that carry with them the potential to transform the future of the Bucks franchise after a deeply disappointing season and months of drama with Antetokounmpo.
Such a trade carries with it an undeniable change of scenery for the many players that have now made their way to the Bucks, with the headliners of the trade like Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kel'el Ware having only played with the Heat in their career.
But the youngest player involved in the deal, Kasparas Jakucionis, who just finished his rookie season with the Heat, recently spoke about the emotional journey he found himself in.
Rollercoaster of Emotions
Jakucionis, who's currently playing with the Lithuanian national team, also spoke about his understanding for the process and his optimism surrounding his new team while also speaking about how he navigated his feelings being traded for the first time in his young NBA career.
"The first day was tough because it was the first time in my basketball career that something like this happened to me, being traded without it being my decision. But I don't think it's a bad thing. It's a young organization with a lot of young players, so I think it will be a good situation for me," Jakucionis said (via The Basket News).
Looking on the bright side of the situation is not only a positive thing for both him and the Bucks when it comes to adapting, but he's not off base by saying that the team is young and exciting either.
A Future to Look Forward To
Not only will Jakucionis be surrounded by a handful of his own teammates from the Heat considering the haul that the Bucks received, but pairing that plethora of players in the Bucks' recent draft picks, all being guided under the tutelage of head coach Taylor Jenkins, bodes well for what the Bucks can be going forward and Jakucionis is looking forward to being a part of what the Bucks are building.
That being said, the Bucks may have a long way to go and more rebuilding to do before they can get back to a truly competitive place, but with a completely new foundation to build upon, Jakucionis has a chance to be a part of something that can grow and become a truly formidable force in the Eastern Conference once again.
