Will the Milwaukee Bucks actually trade Giannis Antetokounmpo?
The Milwaukee Bucks are going to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason.
Unless they don't.
As with many superstars in a small market, trade rumors have always surrounded Giannis, but they have never been hotter than they were this past year. Last offseason, the New York Knicks reportedly had an offer on the table to acquire Giannis before talks ultimately stalled.
As the Bucks slipped further down the standings going into the trade deadline, multiple teams reportedly called Milwaukee to see what the price was for the former MVP.
No deal got done, and Milwaukee failed to make the playoffs for the first time 2016. With Milwaukee not being as competitive as they have been in past seasons, the writing seems to be on the wall for Giannis and the Bucks.
The Milwaukee Bucks Will Trade Giannis Antetokounmpo Ahead of The NBA Draft
A Giannis trade is close. While the reporting has been all over the place as far as when Giannis will be traded, I believe it'll happen before the draft.
There are potential lottery picks at play in the 2026 draft, which is one of the deepest in years. The Bucks would be wise to get one of those guaranteed lottery picks this year rather than hope a first-round pick in four to five years ends up in a lottery spot.
Doing a deal for Giannis now also allows them to get ahead of free agency and other potential trades.
Teams want to make an impact now to figure out the rest of their free agent plans. If signings are made or other deals come along where there is less feet dragging, teams interest in Giannis might move on, limiting Milwaukee's options.
There is a possibility that teams get more desperate as the offseason rolls on, but desperation isn't going to outweigh negotiation if there are fewer teams to bid against.
Giannis Will Be Traded To Miami
The second part of this prediction is that not only will Giannis be traded by Tuesday, but he will be traded to the Miami Heat.
Miami has been desperate to acquire a superstar for years, and after splitting with Jimmy Butler, they are still looking to make a splash.
Milwaukee will need to find a third team to take Tyler Herro, as they likely have little interest in retaining him, but there are a couple of teams looking for an offensive punch to get them over the top, with Detroit reportedly being at the top of the list.
