Will Tyler Herro find a new home once again?

The Milwaukee Bucks traded Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat in the offseason, getting  Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakučionis, the No. 13 pick in the 2026 draft, a 2030 first-round pick swap, unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, and a 2033 second-round pick in return.

The Bucks used the 13th overall pick in this year's draft to select Nate Ament out of Tennessee.

For Herro, it will be a homecoming as he was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated from Whitnall High School in Greenfield, Wisconsin. He played his college ball at Kentucky before being drafted by Miami at 13 in 2019.

Herro's Future

While trade rumors surrounded Giannis for the better part of a year, Herro has been in trade rumors for much longer.

Every time a superstar player was rumored to be leaving their current home, Miami was a team that was reportedly involved. From Kevin Durant to Damian Lillard, Miami kept trying to land another star player to pair with Jimmy Butler, before he was traded, and Bam Adebayo.

In every trade package was Herro, who had established himself as a very good offensive player, but had not established himself as an offensive engine that was worth the $30 million per season.

Herro played in 33 games this past season, averaging 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while shooting48% from the field and 37% from three. He's averaging 20 points per game in four of the last five seasons.

The lone outlier was in 2024-25 when he made his first All-Star team while averaging 23.9 points per game.

Should The Bucks Consider A Trade?

Consider it? Yes. But a good offer is unlikely to come along. There is a reason why other teams turned down trade packages centered around Herro in the past, or why they couldn't find a third team to take Herro.

The selling point now is that he is in the last year of his contract, so if it doesn't work out, teams can let him walk to potentially open up cap space. The Bucks also have to take that into consideration, as they could potentially clear $68 million off their books this offseason by letting Herro, Kyle Kuzma, and Caris LeVert walk.

However, if Milwaukee can get more draft capital for Herro and not take back any contract that will hamper them too much moving forward, it's a move that has to be considered.

Milwaukee's best bet is to keep Herro for this season, hope he plays well going into the trade deadline, and look to move him to a team that needs a scoring punch.
