Tyler Herro hopes this young Bucks team can improve over time.
On Monday, the Milwaukee Bucks were able to come away with their first win of the 2026-2027 regular season as they defeated the Indiana Pacers 110-102. Guard Tyler Herro led the way with 23 points and 7 assists, and he shot an efficient 7-of-14 from the field.
After the game, Herro talked to the media about how big of a win this was for the team, especially because the roster is young. He said he wants to see his group continue to progress.
"Continue to stack days," Herro said. "You don't want to take a step forward and two steps back. Just continuing to grow, continue to get better."
Michael McLoone-Imagn ImagesA win like this for the Bucks was important since they started the season 0-3. One of the young players who stepped up for Milwaukee off the bench was forward Kel'el Ware, who was also apart of the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade.
Ware finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Moving forward, those are the kind of games fans and this coaching staff will want to see.
Herro's partner in the backcourt, Ryan Rollins, also looked solid in the Bucks' first win of the season, finishing with 19 points on 50 percent shooting from the field as well.
One element of this team that was talked about frequently throughout training camp and preseason was the intensity that head coach Taylor Jenkins wants this team to play with. Jenkins' past teams in Memphis are known for being stingy on defense, and some of that showed in this game.
Michael McLoone-Imagn ImagesMilwaukee was able to out-rebound the Pacers 61-48, an impressive showing on the glass. It's clear that every player in a Bucks uniform is going to continue to be asked to crash the glass and come away with rebounds on every possession.
Looking ahead for Milwaukee, this is the kind of game players will want to build from, as Tyler Herro said postgame. That kind of intensity on both ends of the floor will be crucial to their success this season.
They have another test at home coming up, this time against the 4-0 Houston Rockets on Wednesday. The Rockets are a veteran team with high expectations in the postseason, and it will be interesting to see how the young players in Milwaukee will respond to such a challenge on their home floor.
Tyler Herro will have to continue to take charge of this team's offense in order to come away with more wins.
