Should Bucks Be Happy With New-Look Roster for 2026-27 Season?

The Milwaukee Bucks are entering a new era as a franchise as they’re rebuilding going into the 2026-2027 season. After trading away former Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, the roster looks much different.  

Milwaukee has added multiple new faces and created a mix of young talent and experience on this roster. The most notable additions were Tyler Herro, a veteran guard, and Brayden Burries, the 10th overall pick in this year’s draft. 

The Bucks also have Kel’el Ware and Jaime Jaquez Jr. coming from Miami as part of the Giannis deal, and both players will get a chance to play in an expanded role elsewhere. 

In terms of their veteran pieces, they have multiple players on this roster who have had success earlier in their careers. 

One notable veteran on this team aside from the Heat newcomers is Gary Trent Jr. Earlier this offseason, Trent signed a four-year, $64 million deal to stay with Milwaukee. 

In the past, Gray Trent has shown he can be a versatile player on the perimeter because of his shooting ability and his defensive pressure. 

He has had games in the past with the Bucks where he’s been a real threat on offense thanks to his shooting while making important plays defensively. 

In the 2025 postseason, he had a game against the Indiana Pacers in which he scored 37 points in a 117-101 victory. Trent scored nine three-pointers and was very effective on both ends. 

Other veterans like Caris LeVert and Myles Turner have had their ups and downs in the NBA, and if the Bucks are successful this season, they could be players who make a difference. 

In short, the Bucks front office should be content with how their roster looks this early in the rebuild. It is tough to assemble a team following moving off your best player, but Milwaukee has a lot of upside and could turn things around. 

The Bucks will have to rely on their starters to stay healthy and productive if they want a chance to make a run in the postseason, but the odds are not zero. 

There is a chance the team could also see surprise seasons from players like Kel’el Ware or Jaime Jaquez next season, and that could propel them to competing for a top 10 seed. 

Milwaukee can continue to flip their veteran pieces for more future assets moving forward, and by the end of next season, they could be set up to improve in 2027.
