The Chicago Bulls legend's run with NBC appears to have come to a close.
Michael Jordan officially retired on April 16, 2003 and has been in high demand of NBA fans and television executives ever since.
Jordan, the six-time NBA champion and Chicago Bulls icon, returned to the NBA airwaves at the start of last season during a wide-ranging interview with NBA on NBC play-by-play man and journalist Mike Tirico, fueling hopes of a new career, at least part-time, in the TV business.
On Wednesday, Jordan's future with the NBA on NBC was revealed, and it was bad news for fans of the at-times elusive NBA legend.

Jordan isn't expected to return to NBA on NBC, according to a report from Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports.
Jordan was listed as a "special contributor" last year and was featured in a short docuseries titled, 'MJ: Insights to Excellence."
A follow-up interview never came as expected and fans were only shown a handful of clips from his interview with Tirico.
The lack of new Jordan content was bemoaned by fans, which caused Tirico to respond with comments of his own.
"Was it what everyone wanted? Probably not," Tirico said earlier this year according to Yahoo Sports.
"Was it better than not hearing from Michael Jordan? You're damn right it was. And if we get another shot at it, will I be more than excited to be a part of it? You betcha," he added.
Tirico noted that the interview was a rare glimpse into Jordan's life that came on the heels of 2020's wildly popular The Last Dance documentary.
"In our world right now, all you want to do is make the final answer before you know everything," Tirico added.
"I love that Michael trusted us enough to sit down and do something that he hasn't done in a long, long, long time."
Jordan's NBA Future Remains Hazy
Jordan remains a minority owner of the NBA's Charlotte Hornets and has been in the news lately after his former teammate Horace Grant called for him to reconcile with legendary former teammate Scottie Pippen.
Jordan is a mainstay on golf courses throughout the country and is known for business deals including 23XI Racing (NASCAR), Cincoro Tequila, and more.
The six-time former Bulls champion once joked that he prefers not to watch the Bulls in person at the United Center as he doesn't want to take attention away from the current team.
Another Jordan appearance, either on NBA broadcasts or at the United Center, would almost certainly cause a major commotion as Jordan remains one of the world's most popular athletes more than two decades since his retirement.
