The Bulls are getting closer to full strength as they take on the Cavaliers on Friday night.

The Chicago Bulls are getting closer to full strength, and received a big dose of good news on Friday afternoon when it was announced they would be receiving two big additions to their backcourt. CHSN's K.C. Johnson announced that Ayo Dosunmu and Tre Jones would both have their status upgraded on Friday.

Jones was dealing with a left hamstring issue, while Dosumu is dealing with multiple issues related his hand, including a pair of sprained thumbs, and a bone bruise in his right thumb

The return of Dosunmu, and a clean bill of health for Jones would be a huge advantage for a Bulls team that just beat the Cavaliers 127-111 on Wednesday. This was a game in which Jones contributed an extremely impressive 11-point, 11-assist double double in just 24 minutes off the bench. Jones was also instrumental in the win defensively, playing a large part in hounding talented Cavaliers guard Darius Garland into a 6-16 shooting effort in the Bulls win.

Chicago should look forward to another quick turnaround and matchup with Cleveland on Friday night, which will be an easier task if Donovan Mitchell--listed as questionable with an illness--is unable to play.

The Bulls guard play has been one of the few constant positives amid what has been a rough season, with Dosunmu, Jones, Coby White and Josh Giddey all having great moments in their respective individual seasons to this point.

Having Josh Giddey, Jones, White and Dosunmu all available would allow Billy Donovan to rotate the player matched up with Garland and/or Donovan Mitchell out often, keeping a fresh defender pinned to Cleveland’s star guards.

Dosunmu has not played since December 7th in a 123-91 loss to the Golden State Warriors. He is in the midst of an excellent year, averaging a career-high 15.2 points, 3.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and shooting 47.5% from the 3-point line (4.0 attempts per game). Dosummu started the season on a Sixth Man of the Year trajectory, putting up well-rounded stat lines as the Bulls secured their first 5-0 start since the 1996-97 season.

With the Jones and Dosunmu healing up well, only rookie Noa Essengue--who is out for the year following left shoulder surgery--remains out for an extended period of time for Chicago. Many Bulls fans have been wondering; which Bulls squad is real? The one that started the season 5-0 behind an egalitarian offense and a defense focused on limiting opponent's 3-point makes? Or the team that currently sits a 11-15 with a five-game and seven-game losing streak on its record? With the team nearing full strength, we will finally get answers to all of our questions.
