Donovan Mitchell signed a multi-year extension with Adidas that will carry his signature line through a 10th shoe and expand support for Greenwich Country Day.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell has signed a multiyear contract extension with Adidas, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday.

The deal runs through Mitchell's 10th signature shoe with the brand. Charania reported that Mitchell becomes the seventh active NBA player to reach that mark.

Adidas will also provide further resources to Greenwich Country Day, Mitchell's high school in Greenwich, Conn., to give students from underserved communities access to educational resources, according to Charania. Financial terms of the extension were not reported.

Mitchell's Adidas Partnership Dates to Rookie Season

Mitchell signed with Adidas before his rookie season in 2017, after one college season at Louisville, an Adidas school.

Following that rookie year with the Utah Jazz, Adidas replaced his original three-year shoe deal with a new contract that included a signature line, ESPN reported in 2018.

He revealed the D.O.N. Issue #1 on Dec. 27, 2018. Two teenage student writers from Greenwich Country Day got the first interview about it.

At the time, Mitchell joined James Harden, Damian Lillard, and Derrick Rose as the only active Adidas players with their own sneaker.

The first model went on sale in July 2019.

The name stands for Determination Over Negativity, which Adidas calls Mitchell's personal motto. The D.O.N. Issue 6 launched July 5, 2024, at $120, the same week Mitchell agreed to a three-year, $150.3 million extension with Cleveland.

Adidas currently sells the D.O.N. Issue 8 on his product page.

Extension Includes More Support for Greenwich Country Day

Mitchell's mother taught at Greenwich Country Day for 12 years, and his sister, Jordan, is also a graduate.

In 2020, Mitchell and his family pledged $12 million to the school to fund scholarships for low-income students and a new gym facility. Mitchell said in a statement at the time that the gift would help "make the Country Day experience available for more kids."

He married Grammy-winning singer Coco Jones in Greenwich in August.

Mitchell Enters 10th NBA Season

Mitchell agreed July 7 to a four-year, $273 million maximum extension with the Cavaliers, which the team announced July 9. The deal includes a player option for 2030-31.

Mitchell averaged 27.9 points last season and made the All-NBA Second Team.

At the team's start-of-season press conference Sept. 25, Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman said the franchise hopes to retire Mitchell's No. 45 someday.

The 2026-27 season will be Mitchell's 10th in the NBA and his fifth in Cleveland, which acquired him from Utah in September 2022.

The Cavaliers are in Spain for training camp and open the preseason Oct. 8 against the Boston Celtics at Rocket Arena. The regular season begins Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Philadelphia 76ers at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
