A former All-Star from the Cleveland Cavaliers could be joining a top Western Conference team for the 2026-27 NBA season.

Former Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star big man Kevin Love could be close to joining his next team for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season.

After spending last season with the Utah Jazz, there were rumors that Love would prefer to join a contender. Now, that reality could be coming, with Love potentially going back to where it all started for him.

According to The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski, Love is open to a reunion with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Krawczynski also mentioned that Minnesota has some interest in bringing Love back as well.

This was reported on The Jon Krawczynski Show.

“From what I understand, Kevin Love is open to coming back to Minnesota,” Krawczynski said. “I do think the Wolves have some interest in bringing him back as well.”

Love was originally drafted to the Timberwolves with the No. 5 overall pick back in the 2008 NBA Draft. The former UCLA product instantly became a fan favorite for Minnesota, making two All-Star teams with the organization.

The big man was the rebounding leader in the NBA during the 2011 season, which was the best of his career. Love averaged 26.0 points and 13.3 rebounds per game this year, while shooting 37.2 percent from beyond the three-point line.

The Timberwolves never quite were able to put it all together with Love on the roster, eventually trading him to the Cavaliers for Andrew Wiggins. But his time in Minnesota hasn't been forgotten, and a return could be special on all fronts.

Love spent eight and a half seasons with the Cavaliers, helping the organization win a championship during the 2016 season. The big man made three more All-Star teams with Cleveland, becoming more of a household name in the NBA.

The fans in Cleveland loved him, and he was loyal to the city for years. Injuries took over his last few seasons with the Cavaliers, leading the franchise to buy him out during the 2023 season.

Love latched on with the Miami Heat, helping them get to the NBA Finals. He hasn't played much over the last few years, being more of a bench player for whatever team he has been on.

But if Love does end up back with the Timberwolves, it could be a fun twist ahead of the new NBA season. Only time will tell if this signing happens, but if he joins the Timberwolves, Love would have another shot at winning a title before he calls it a career.
