Darius Garland's toe flares up again. Is he closer to returning, or will his absence continue to hurt the Cleveland Cavaliers' offense?

Darius Garland was gone just as soon as he came back to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the feeling around the aggravation of his toe injury isn't dire.

The Cleveland Cavaliers didn't have Darius Garland back for long before he went back on the shelf last week, when he hurt his surgically-repaired left great toe on a seemingly routine drive against Nikola Jovic in Miami.

He hasn't seen any action since that third quarter on Nov. 10, which has led to the Cavs turning the ball over in their last two games and having a disjointed attack offensively. Fortunately, Cleveland head coach Kenny Atkinson termed Garland's injury day-to-day on Saturday, meaning that it may not be too long before we see DG back in action.

In the latest episode of Courtside with Cavs, Spencer German and I talked about Garland's toe injury and what a timeline could look like:

"Day-to-day is a lot better than week-to-week or month-to-month. After seeing how he reacted in that game and purposely fouling to get out, I was like, oh, this can't be good. But, after hearing how Donovan Mitchell talked about it and how De'Andre Hunter -- who's dealt with a number of injuries -- talked about it, I think I'm actually a bit more at ease.

"You can always say it was too soon to come back because someone reinjured something or aggravated a previous injury. But that's always gonna happen no matter what. There's no one that comes back and feels as good as they think they're gonna feel. Even the first couple of games, you feel like you're on top of the world, and then you just kind of get hit with a shot of reality. That's coming back from an injury, so it's not gonna be perfect."

The Cavs will continue their homestand with three matchups ahead, the most significant of which is on Wednesday night against the Houston Rockets.

Cleveland will then host the Indiana Pacers and the Los Angeles Clippers to conclude the stand.
