Update: 4:15 p.m. ET: Shams Charania of ESPN is also reporting that the Celtics traded Xavier Tillman to the Charlotte Hornets.
On Tuesday, the Boston Celtics acquired big man Nikova Vucevic in a pre-trade deadline deal with the Chicago Bulls.
It turns out that wasn't the only big move for Boston this week, as the team reportedly agreed to one contract extension and made another pair of trades on Thursday.
As reported by NBA Insider Marc Stein, the C's have given Amari Williams a two-year, $2.7 million contract. The 46th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Williams was drafted by the Orlando Magic and traded to the Celtics alongside Max Shulga, who made his NBA debut in Wednesday's win over the Houston Rockets.
The rookie from the United Kingdom played his college ball at Drexel and at Kentucky. He's appeared in 13 games for the Celtics this season, starting two. Averaging more than eight minutes a game, he's averaging 1.7 ppg and 2.1 rebounds. He's shooting nearly 47 percent from the floor, and though he doesn't play a lot, he's clearly impressed the upper management group.
The Celtics have made a pair of deals, sending Chris Boucher to the Utah Jazz and Josh Minott to the Brooklyn Nets. At this time, the trade returns are not known. We will update this story when they are.
The 23-year-old Minott played his college ball at Memphis and is a four-year veteran of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Celtics. He's played in 33 games this season, getting nearly 16 minutes a contest. He's averaging 5.8 ppg and 3.6 rebounds.
Boucher, 33, is a nine-year veteran of the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors. Though he was a big part of Toronto's rotation for seven years and helped them win a title in 2018-19, he never really got going with Boston. He appeared in just nine games, averaging 2.3 ppg. He has pulled down two rebounds a game.
The Celtics will be off on Thursday and will hit the floor again on Friday night when they host the Miami Heat at TD Garden. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Miami is 27-25 on the campaign and actually leads a mediocre Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference.
This Payton Pritchard/Caitlin Clark story is the one that keeps on giving. Check out the latest developments here, including a completely hilarious whiff on Clark's resume by Celtics legend Paul Pierce.
