It appears Anthony Edwards is familiar with Jaylen Brown's game...

Anthony Edwards has never met a microphone he didn’t like. That’s been clear since he entered the league.

His confidence, charisma, and unfiltered honesty define the face of the Minnesota Timberwolves (34-22).

Sometimes, Edwards offers a quote that stands out from the usual All-Star Weekend noise.

This week, that moment involved Jaylen Brown.

Edwards has been making the rounds, talking hoops, talking defense, talking about how he’d match up with some of the league’s best - including saying he’d have no trouble guarding Kyrie Irving one-on-one - which is exactly the kind of fearless bravado you’ve come to expect from him.

But a lighter, viral moment emerged when Edwards delivered the line everyone keeps repeating on Celtics Twitter.

He was asked which All-Star he would not want to date his sister:

“I’m gonna go with Jaylen Brown. I’m gonna go with JB because he’s from the city [Atlanta]. He can’t date my sister.”

That’s it. That’s the quote.

And honestly, it tells you everything you need to know about both players.

If you’ve watched Brown this season, you know why peers respect him. The Boston Celtics (35-19) star has evolved into one of the league’s most complete wings, combining elite two-way play with a physical presence.

Brown has kept Boston among the East’s elite despite injuries, lineup changes, and uncertainty around Jayson Tatum’s rehab. Each night, he carries the scoring load, defends top assignments, and plays with the edge contenders need.

When Edwards, a confident young superstar, singles him out - even jokingly - it resonates because it’s true.

Brown is respected, physical, and opponents know they’ll feel him.

Of course, Edwards has the resume to talk.

He’s having another monster season, leading Minnesota with his scoring, defense, and playmaking, fueling a team that believes it can make real noise in the West. From dropping monster boxscores on a consistent basis to going viral at NBA All-Star Weekend, Edwards is never far from the spotlight.

That’s what makes the league fun - the personalities, the overlap, and the mutual respect, often wrapped in playful jabs.

Edwards may have been joking, but in the NBA, humor often hides competition.

When it comes to Jaylen Brown, he’s a player stars notice - on scouting reports, in standings, and, apparently, at the family dinner table.
