Hey, I'm a hoarder of all things cool, and this is cool.
Look, I'll be honest: I'm a hoarder of all things cool and collectible. It doesn't matter if I'm 37 years old. If you look at my office, it's full of bobbleheads and action figures, mini-helmets and other assorted promotional items. And I don't feel bad about it.
There's four separate Boston Celtics bobbleheads coming out this season that I already know I want, and now there's something else I want from TD Garden: The beer sneaker.
Have you seen this? The Celtics unveiled it on Friday night for the home opener against the New York Knicks.
It's a glass sneaker that comes with a shoelace and fits a beer inside it. You drink the beer, you keep the glass, all for $24. That sounds well worth it to me.
This is just the latest in a new line of in-arena/in-stadium promotional food and drink items. For instance, the Seattle Mariners debuted a "ferry" that held chicken tenders and fries this season. They were in constant demand at T-Mobile Park.
Here's hoping the Celtics have enough glass beer boots on deck to meet the demand, because it will be extensive once the full word gets out.
Elsewhere in the news for the Celtics...
1) If we're not talking about souvenir beer cups, the attention can turn back to the Jaylen Brown-Jayson Tatum drama from this week.
Despite Tatum taking the high road in his comments about Brown, Brown continues to stoke the flames of resentment, saying on Saturday that he thinks Tatum has a great PR team, and while there's no beef between them, there might be some "lamb chips and some gravy."
OK then. We're not quite sure what that means, but it's clear that Brown certainly isn't thrilled with the way Tatum is portraying things in the media.
The two teams meet four times in the regular season, the first of which comes on Nov. 10 in Philadelphia. We will see what the direct battle between the two looks like on that night.
2) As for the on-court stuff? The Celtics are 1-1 on the season after beating the Knicks on Friday. They'll be back home on Monday night against the Chicago Bulls at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Speaking of Tatum, he had 36 points in that win over New York. That was a marked improvement over his 13-point performance in the opener, which was a 121-113 loss against the Detroit Pistons in Detroit.
