The C's avenged Monday's loss to the Houston Rockets by beating the Milwaukee Bucks.
Playing without Jayson Tatum, the Boston Celtics were able to earn a win on Wednesday night, topping the Milwaukee Bucks at TD Garden.
The 109-102 win moved the Celtics to 6-2 on the season and avenged Monday's loss to the Houston Rockets while the loss dropped the new-look Bucks to 1-7 on the year and 0-4 on the road.
Paul George led the way with 25 points on 8-of-18 shooting, and he also went 5-of-9 from 3-point range.
Here's what else you need to know:
Celtics get up big, but nearly collapse late
The Celtics led 27-8 in the first quarter and ultimately led 62-41 at the half, however Milwaukee came back in the third quarter to close the gap to eight at the end of the stanza.
The Celtics steadied the ship in the fourth quarter, playing essentially even over the final 12 minutes.
Inside the box score
--In addition to George's 25 points, the Celtics also got 24 points from Derrick White, who went 9-of-9 at the foul line. Boston also got double-figures from Luka Garza (11), Sam Hauser (11) and Payton Pritchard (10).
--The Celtics were better from 3-point range in this game, going 16-of-39 in total (41 percent).
--Rebounding, which has been an issue at times, wasn't in this one. The Celtics out-rebounded the Bucks 54-45.
Boston Celtics forward Paul George (13) shoots the ball against Milwaukee Bucks guard Kasparas Jakucionis (25) during the first half at TD Garden. Eric Canha-Imagn Image--The Celtics continue to get to the foul line at a good rate, going 19-of-25 at the charity stripe.
--Tyler Herro led the way for Milwaukee, scoring 25.
Big men step up
The C's continue to try to find ways to get Mitchell Robinson involved. The big free agent signing of the offseason had just three points on 1-of-8 shooting, but he did have 10 rebounds, which gave him a big imapct.
The trio of Garza, Robinson and Neemias Queta combined for 23 points and 27 rebounds. That's solid production for your big man trio.
How about Pritchard?
If the Celtics are going to play without Tatum, they are going to need secondary scorers to step up. This time, White did the job, but Pritchard is supposed to be a guy the team counts on. He went for 10 points, but considering he averaged nearly 18 a game last year, his average is down in the early going (13.4 ).
The C's will need to find a way to get him consistently involved in the scoring, rather than the sporadic nature he's had so far.
