And whether to keep stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown on the same roster is one of the key considerations.

It's your move, Brad Stevens.

Your task: to figure out if your Boston Celtics superstars, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown can, co-exist on your roster when the next season starts -- or decide that exploring a trade is the best plan.

It has been less than a week since the Celtics blew a 3-1 series lead, losing in Game 7 at TD Garden to the Philadelphia 76ers to end their season in the first round of the NBA playoffs. And in those five days since the loss, media members and fans have headed to social media, pitching the narrative that Tatum and Brown just might no longer work as a tandem.

Stevens, the Celtics' president of basketball operations, skirted the issue of the Brown-Tatum pairing at his end-of-season news conference on Wednesday. Despite reports claiming Brown was "frustrated" with the organization, Stevens said Wednesday that he and Brown have a strong relationship and that he had gotten no negative feedback from the guard.

For his part, Brown was critical of NBA officials and 76ers star Joel Embiid in a social media post but praised his teammates, calling this his "favorite year" of playing basketball. The Celtics, in the wake of roster change and adversity, went 56-26 to earn the Eastern Conference's No. 2 seed in the playoffs. Brown turned in an All-NBA kind of season, averaging 28.7 points per game and leading the team as Tatum missed most of the season for injury recovery.

Still, Brett Siegel of Clutch Points reported Friday that Stevens has decisions to make this offseason.

"Rival front offices are already preparing for a big change to happen to the Celtics' roster this offseason, and team president Brad Stevens will evaluate the market for what upgrade he could possibly make in a trade involving Brown, sources said," Siegel wrote. "However, this is not to say definitively that the Celtics will even consider trading Brown, as Stevens' comments in his end-of-season interview didn't hint one way or the other."

Where does Tatum stand?

What was not known until the late hours Thursday night was just what Tatum is thinking now that the season is over. That curiosity ended when Tatum shared a motivational clip from a movie star to make a statement via a late-night Instagram story.

The 28-year-old Tatum doesn’t often insert himself into talk radio and social media drama surrounding him and his five-time All-Star teammate, but chose to do so in the wee hours, posting a video of Denzel Washington calling out the media.

“What is the long-term effect of too much information? One of the effects is the need to be first, not even to be true anymore,” Washington says in the clip, appearing to speak to a gathered pool of media.

“What a responsibility you all have, to tell the truth, not just to be first, but to tell the truth. We live in a society where it’s just first who cares. We don't care if it’s true, just say it, sell it. Anything you practice, you get good at, including BS."

The message from Tatum is a clear shot at the media, who have helped to spark a firestorm surrounding the teammates. Not only is this a clear shot at the media, but a complete backing of Brown and their relationship.
