As rumors swirl around the organization, where is the team's star this summer?

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum might be right: The best way to handle the rumors around the organization this summer might be to do exactly what he's doing, which is saying nothing at all.

After all, Tatum is not the general manager, or the head coach. He's not paid to run the organization, or to dictate the moves it makes. He's paid to make baskets, and he does a good job of that. By staying in his lane, he can't get in trouble.

That said, his silence feels like it's saying something too. After all, the organization reportedly offered up his longtime teammate Jaylen Brown in a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo. Tatum hasn't come out in support of Brown. He has said before how much he loves playing with Brown, but he hasn't said it now, which makes you wonder if he feels the partnership has run its course.

Has he said anything to Brad Stevens privately? Has he said anything to Brown privately? It's all one big mystery, but it feels like a comment from him would go a long way to quell the rumors about how he feels about everything happening around him.

The Boston sports radio scene feels the same way, as evidenced by the following discussion on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Brown and Tatum have been teammates since Tatum entered the league in 2017. The duo has been to the NBA Finals twice (2022 and 2024), winning in the 2023-24 season. The Celtics have made the playoffs in each season of their partnership, including a 56-26 regular season in this most recent season. Boston was eliminated in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers, which has clearly caused the organization to re-evaluate things.

As the rumor mill swirls and Tatum says silent, Brown is getting louder. He was rather combative on social media on Saturday, fighting back at some of the narratives about him.
