The LA Clippers have unexpectedly acquired another guard on their roster.

The NBA world has been waiting all offseason to see what the fate of Denver Nuggets forward Peyton Watson was going to be. On a quiet Wednesday night, it was decided.

However, Watson didn't end up going to the LA Clippers, like many expected him to. That doesn't change the fact that the Clippers were involved in the trade; it just netted them a different player.

Who Did the Clippers Acquire?

Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Wednesday that the LA Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Washington Wizards all took part in a multi-team trade to determine the fate of Watson.

The Denver Nuggets received an unprotected 2031 Cavaliers first-round pick, a 2032 Sacramento Kings second-rounder, and Julian Reese from the Wizards, who will get waived off his two-way deal.

The Cavaliers received Peyton Watson, a 2027 second-rounder from the Clippers who is going to the Wizards, and Cam Whitmore from the Wizards.

The Wizards will receive Tre Mann from Cavaliers, a 2027 second-rounder from the Cavaliers that came from the Clippers, and cash from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Lastly, the LA Clippers will be receiving sharpshooter Max Strus.

Last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Strus averaged 11.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on 44/40/78 shooting from the field. He struggled a bit during the playoffs, but it wasn't anything alarming. However, what is more alarming is the Clippers' current roster construction.

Do the Clippers Have a Roster Problem?

With the way the Clippers are currently constructed, they have way too many guards. In fact, to say they have a plethora of guards is an understatement.

Here are the following guards that are currently signed to the Clippers: Darius Garland, Max Strus, Keaton Wagler, Gradey Dick, Bradley Beal, Kris Dunn, Jordan Miller, Cam Christie, and Bennedict Mathurin, who is currently a restricted free agent.

It's safe to say that the LA Clippers will make few moves before the season begins to get more size. Who the Clippers end up deciding to trade remains to be seen, but re-signing Bradley Beal becomes a bigger question mark every day.

Looking at the roster, the Clippers need to make sure they keep minutes for Darius Garland, Keaton Wagler, Max Strus, Kris Dunn, Jordan Miller, and Bradley Beal. However, even that alone is five different guards, so expect to see some ball coming from LA.

At the same time, the Clippers have been plagued with being a bad rebounding team for years, and their current roster isn't going to do anything to help with that. Hopefully, some smart moves are coming soon.
