Looking at the depth chart of the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Kawhi Leonard trade is official, and he is no longer on the Los Angeles Clippers.

On Monday, after being held up for months due to the league investigating Kawhi and the Clippers over allegations of salary cap circumvention, Kawhi was officially traded to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, and multiple draft picks.

It’s been a busy offseason for the Clippers, as they continued to make moves even with the Kawhi trade pending. They signed Rui Hachimura from the rival Los Angeles Lakers, but lost restricted free agent Bennedict Mathurin, who was acquired in the Ivica Zubac trade last year, to the New Orleans Pelicans.

They traded for Max Strus from the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of a three-team trade that also involved the Denver Nuggets.

Their offseason started with promise as they obtained the fifth overall pick from the Indiana Pacers, also due to the Zubac trade, thanks to some lottery luck. They used that pick to draft Keaton Wagler, a guard out of Illinois.

The New Depth Chart

PG: Darius Garland, Kris Dunn

SG: Max Strus, Keaton Wagler, Bradley Beal, Gradey Dick, Cameron Christie

SF: Brandon Ingram, Jordan Miller

PF: Rui Hachimura, Derrick Jones Jr, Isaiah Jackson

C: Brook Lopez, Johni Broome, Baba Miller

Starters

Garland, who was acquired from the Cavaliers in exchange for James Harden last season, and Ingram are locked in as starters at their respective positions.

Lopez should earn the nod at center, but it’s the weakest area for the team.

There’s a chance the team starts Jones Jr at power forward, opting to bring Hachimura off the bench for his scoring punch. Strus will most likely be the starting two-guard due to his versatility and connectivity, but Wagler was drafted to play alongside Garland and should get plenty of reps in that area. There’s an outside shot Beal starts as a veteran on the team.

The Depth

The Clippers have better depth than some may suspect. Dunn is a proven backup point guard and a defensive hound who makes life easier for everyone around him.

The shooting guard position could see Wagler or Beal run the offense off the bench. It’s suspected that Wagler will get every opportunity to prove himself as the Clippers build towards the future. If Dick can find the shooting range that he showed in college, he’s a sneaky addition deep on the bench.

Miller played well at the end of last season, and there is promise, but he’ll be 27 in January, and his game might not grow much. Whether it’s Jones or Hachimura coming off the bench, both players have their respective strengths, just on opposite ends of the court.

The center depth is weak with an aging Lopez and unproven players in Broome and Miller.
