With an odd quirk in the NBA schedule, the Golden State Warriors played back-to-back games in San Antonio this week. They won them both, including on Friday night in a 109-108 thriller. Warriors superstar Stephen Curry scored a season-high 49 points, breaking the mark in Wednesday's win when he had 46.

The Warriors don't come back to San Antonio again this season. The Spurs have just two words for Curry and his Golden State teammates.

    Good riddance.

The Spurs were 8-2 before Curry and his posse arrived, and had the third-best record in the NBA's Western Conference. But two big nights by the best shooter in the game changed all that. He was 9-for-17 from three, and made all eight free throws in 3 6 minutes of action in an NBA Cup game. He had 31 points in the second half alone, including two free throws with six seconds left to win the game.

Here's the complete game story from Warriors Roundtable writer Grant Mona.

Curry tied Hall of Famer Michael Jordan for the most 40-point games after 30 years old in league history with 44. He has 74 games over 40 points in his career.

"That was an incredible basketball game, high-level competition. I'm really proud of our guys for sticking with it,'' Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "I thought the Spurs defense was fantastic. They bottled us up pretty well.

The Warriors are now 8-6 on the season. They continue their six-game road trip on Sunday in New Orleans and will wrap it up with game in Orlando and Miami on Tuesday and Wednesday.
