Hawks' coach Quin Snyder blasts a "dirty play" that sidelined Jock Landale, questioning the league's response and its impact on Atlanta's playoff push.
The Atlanta Hawks are without the services of center Jock Landale, who suffered a high ankle sprain in his right foot after a scary incident in a recent game against the Orlando Magic.
It appeared as if Goga Bitadze made somewhat of a dirty play on Landale, which forced him into the injury. Bitadze has been at the forefront of NBA headlines in recent weeks for various reasons...
Hawks' head coach Quin Snyder recently made an appearance on 92.9TheGame with Mike Conti (Atlanta sports radio), and had this to say about the incident:
"It was a dirty play," said Snyder. "I wish it would have been taken more seriously than it was. To get to a point where there's no penalty, there's no suspension, there's nothing?"
"I've been very very measured about what I've been saying about that, but it's wrong. We played (Orlando) last year, we were in a similar situation where we playing really well, and two guys on our team were knocked out for the season, both on dirty plays."
The Hawks are in a very important NBA playoff push, and if they are to earn a playoff series, losing their biggest center in Jock Landale will certainly test the depth of the group. Atlanta made a recent roster move to sign Tony Bradley to help aid in the center depth.
You can clearly tell Quin Snyder is upset with the incident, and as he should be, especially, as he mentioned, considering nothing happened with Bitadze.
The official diagnosis on Landale's ankle injury is that he will be re-evaluated in two weeks, but that's never a good sign. Atlanta's regular-season schedule will conclude this Sunday against the Miami Heat, and the Hawks have two consecutive games against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday and Friday.
