NBA 2K27 drops Sept. 4 and Atlanta came in at 82. Jock Landale, Aaron Wiggins, and Jalen Johnson all have room to blow past what 2K gave them.
NBA 2K27 is set to release Sept. 4, and with player ratings now available, several Atlanta Hawks players enter the season positioned to outperform their in-game overall ratings.
Spurs center Victor Wembanyama, former guard Derrick Rose, and WNBA guard Caitlin Clark are the 2K feature covers for this year's game. The Atlanta Hawks, who look to clinch their second consecutive playoff berth, will enter the season with a starting five who all have an overall rating of 80 or above.
The team's overall rating in NBA 2K for the 2026-27 season is 82. Atlanta added depth in the 2026 NBA draft, through free agency, and the trade market.
Here are three Hawks who can outperform their current 2K rating.
3. Jock Landale
Jock Landale is the first member of the Hawks who could outperform his NBA 2K27 rating because of his ability to space the floor, rebound, and set pick-and-roll screens.
As of now, the Saint Mary's product is rated 78 overall, with an 82 3-point shooting rating and a 65 dunk rating. While the dunk rating may not improve in the immediate future, his 3-point shooting and rebounding will elevate his overall rating.
Landale was traded to Atlanta on Feb. 4 for cash considerations after being traded to Utah from Memphis. In 23 games with the Hawks, he averaged 9.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists. Across 68 games between the two teams last season, he shot 51.5% from the field and 38.3% from 3-point range.
The 6-foot-11 center shot a career-high 42.3% from 3 during his second season with the Houston Rockets. He will continue to receive open opportunities to shoot 3s because of the build of the roster.
Forward Jalen Johnson and guard Dyson Daniels can get to the rim which can provide kick-out opportunities for Landale. Not to mention, a majority of the roster, except for Daniels, can space the floor from 3.
Landale will be able to improve his rating because of the opportunities he will receive to score, create second-chance points from rebounding, and space the floor for his teammates.
2. Aaron Wiggins
Guard Aaron Wiggins is the second player who could outperform his 2K rating because of his versatility and ability to cut to the basket, finish at the rim, and score on all three levels.
Currently, he is rated 78 overall, with a 79 3-point shooting rating and a 70 dunk rating. He will be able to improve his rating simply because his role may expand in the ATL.
Wiggins is coming from the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he often had to spot up to shoot. In Atlanta, he will receive the opportunity to create his own shot or put others in a position to score.
Last season, the Maryland product finished averaging 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while shooting 43.1% from the field. He will provide the Hawks with more playmaking, scoring, and backcourt depth.
1. Jalen Johnson
Johnson will be able to take his game to the next level as the official face of the franchise. Last season, the organization traded Trae Young, who had the ball in his hand in late-game situations.
Johnson's current rating is 89 overall, with a 77 3-point shooting rating and a 96 dunk rating. He will have the opportunity to improve his 2K rating because he will receive more touches now that he will enter the season as the No. 1 option.
Last season he averaged 22.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 7.9 assists while shooting 48.9% from the field. He also shot 35.2% from 3.
This season's Atlanta roster consists of more floor spacing and more 3-point shooting. Johnson will be able to get his teammates involved and take over when needed. The addition of Luguentz Dort will take defensive pressure off of him and will allow him to roam on defense if needed.
