Miami Heat superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo claims he has at least one more stop before ending his Hall of Fame career
Miami Heat forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new start.
He's moved from the Midwest time zone to Eastern. He's moved from the Central Division in the NBA to the Southeast. He's moved from the Milwaukee Bucks to South Florida.
Despite all this change, Antetokounmpo still hope to return to his roots before his career ends. He said he wants to return to play for the Bucks at some point before his playing days end.
“I really believed that I would stay in Milwaukee for my entire career," Antetokounmpo said on the Anestea podcast. But then I saw I was in my comfort zone. I wanted something different. And I am happy to be in Miami. I can’t lie, I don’t feel comfortable in Miami. I’ll go there and do my best…. I bleed purple and green… Basketball wise, I had a great time there. That will always be in my heart. That will never leave. I don’t know but I hope when the Miami chapter closes, and I don’t know when or if it will, and I don’t know how many years I’ll spend there, but I wish to return to Milwaukee if they’ll have me.”
It's almost as if Antetokounmpo is following a similar path as NBA superstar LeBron James. When James joined the Heat in 2010, it was never expected he would end his career in Miami. After winning two titles in four straight appearances in the Finals, he left to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was where he began his career and he eventually led them to a championship.
Like most superstars, Antetokounmpo hasn't ruled out going back to where it all began in Milwaukee. It makes sense because he did play there 13 years, winning two MVPs and one championship.
There is nothing wrong with Antetokounmpo saying this long as he helps the Heat compete for titles during his time in Miami.
