Ex-Miami Heat forward Kevin Love was responsible for several funny memes involving Jimmy Butler, Terry Rozier, Tyler Herro and other Heat stars
Former Miami Heat forward Kevin Love was responsible for some of the funniest NBA moments the past two seasons.
They all occurred off the court courtesy of his Instagram account. Love dropped some hilarious memes, most of the Heat-related. He recently opened up about them during an appearance on The Old Man And The Three podcast.
A lot of the videos, most of them based off movie scenes, centered on former Heat star Jimmy Butler.
"Last year with all the Jimmy (bleep) going and how crazy that was, I thought it was a good time with a little bit of a push to show that personality," Love said. "... The cinematic and film knowledge that I have. Life imitates art. There's just so many of those scenes throughout the course of time."
Before he was traded to the Golden State Warriors, Butler was publicly feuding with Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and team president Pat Riley. That was golden material for Love. And then came the near fight between Heat guard Tyler Herro and Houston Rockets forward Amen Thompson. There was also the Terry Rozier gambling scandal and many other topics covered by Love.
For him, it was a chance for fans to get to know him. Love said the change happened at the urging from a close friend. It turned him into one of the funniest NBA players on the Internet. It also grew his social media following. At one point, many of his memes went viral on a daily basis.
"I had a person in my life that said you need to show more of your personality outward," Love said. "It was actually the fight in Houston. Tyler Herro is not fighting anybody. Terry Rozier, Thompson, that was hilarious. I just decided you know what I'm going to start pulling some stuff and pressing send ... I really enjoyed doing that."
And it appears this new Kevin Love is here to stay.
