The Miami Heat have won over several former players and fans after signing Klay Thompson this offseason

The Miami Heat were once again at the center of the NBA universe when they signed future Hall of Famer Klay Thompson.

Most have viewed it as a positive move for the Heat, including team president Pat Riley. Another was former Heat player Chris Bosh. He said he approved of the move in a social media post on X.

It makes sense. The Heat need to perimeter players to flank alongside forwards Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo, which is among the best frontcourts in the NBA.

The Heat just recently acquired Antetokounmpo in a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks that included Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez, Kasparas Jakucionis and Kel'el Ware. Bosh wasn't the only former All-Star to like the acquisition. Jeff Teague also said he was a fan of it, even putting the Heat ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers. That was shocking considering the 76ers signed LeBron James and Jaylen Brown in the offseason, giving them one of the best starting fives in the league. The Sixers also have Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and VJ Edgecomb.

Bosh should know all about free agent signing. He was part of perhaps the best free agent haul in league history. In 2010, he and James left their teams (Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers) to play with Dwyane Wade in Miami. It led to two championships in four straight trips to the Finals.

The question now is if the trio of Antetokounmpo, Adebayo and Thompson can lead the Heat to similar success.

THOMPSON CHOOSES NUMBER IN MIAMI

Thompson wore No. 31 with the Mavericks over the last couple of seasons. He wore it to honor Hall of Famer and three-point specialist Reggie Miller. Thompson wore No. 11 upon entering the league in the 2011-12 season. Ironically enough, he was the No. 11 pick, selected by the Golden State Warriors in the 2011 draft class.
