Kon Knueppel rates a 94 from 3 in NBA 2K27, second in the game behind Stephen Curry at 99. He was an 85 in the category at the NBA 2K26 launch.

Stephen Curry is the only player in NBA 2K27 who shoots it better than Kon Knueppel. Curry rates a 99 from 3. Knueppel rates a 94.

2K released the attribute lists before it released the overall ratings, and Knueppel's shooting number was the first Charlotte figure out of the rollout.

Curry has carried a 99 in the category since NBA 2K16. He shot 39.3% from 3 last season at 38 years old and missed 40 games.

Knueppel was an 85 there at NBA 2K26 launch, when he came into the league at 75 overall, fifth among rookies behind Cooper Flagg at 82, Dylan Harper at 78, Ace Bailey at 77, and V.J. Edgecombe at 76. He is a 94 and an 84 a year later.

More than 10 players cleared a 90 in 3-point shooting in NBA 2K27. Two did in NBA 2K26.

Knueppel finished his rookie season with 273 3-pointers, the most in the NBA. No rookie had ever led the league in the category. LaMelo Ball was second with 272 and Luka Dončić was third with 254.

The rookie record for 3-pointers in a season belonged to Keegan Murray, who made 206 for Sacramento in 2022-23. Knueppel passed it at Indiana on Feb. 26, hitting a career-high-tying eight to reach 207.

Twenty-nine games in, he became the fastest player in league history to 100 3-pointers. He got there 12 games faster than Lauri Markkanen, who had held the mark since 2017-18. Curry needed 58 games.

At 20, Knueppel became the only player in NBA history age 22 or younger to reach 250 3-pointers in a season, hitting the mark against New York on March 26. His 14th game with five or more 3-pointers came at Atlanta on Feb. 7, another rookie record.

Across the season he averaged 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. He shot 47.5% from the field, 42.5% from 3, and 86.3% from the free-throw line.

Charles Lee, Charlotte's coach at the time, credited Knueppel's shot preparation, his mechanics, his parents, and Duke coach Jon Scheyer after Knueppel reached 100 3-pointers in November.

"He's got a phenomenal base to him," Lee said, according to The Charlotte Observer.

Charlotte has shooting behind him in the game. Eleven Hornets rate 80 or better from 3. Grayson Allen is an 86, Brandon Miller an 85, Royce O'Neale an 84, and Liam McNeeley and Naz Reid are both 83.

Outside scoring is Charlotte's highest team grade at 86. Rebounding is the lowest at 59. The roster comes in at 81 overall, in 2K's second tier.

Knueppel's build in the game is listed as a Crafty Diming Sniper. He carries 15 badges. Naz Reid leads the roster with 24.

The 84 overall puts Knueppel 66th on the game's top-100 list. Miller is 57th at 85 and Reid is 80th at 82.

Jeff Peterson, the Hornets' president of basketball operations and general manager, told Marc J. Spears of Andscape that Knueppel and Miller were the reason he was comfortable trading Ball to Minnesota.

Charlotte took Knueppel fourth overall in the 2025 draft out of Duke. He made the All-Rookie First Team and won the first four Rookie of the Month awards of the season, the first Hornet to take that award four times.

NBA 2K27 comes out Sept. 4. Early access opened Aug. 26 for Deluxe and Ultra edition buyers.
