The Sacramento Kings find themselves back in a familiar spot: Getting back to the win column.
Malik Monk's 23 points wasn't enough as the Portland Trail Blazers escaped with the win on Sunday.
Now the Miami Heat stroll in with NBC Sports California airing the Tuesday showdown. FanDuel Sports Sun also will show Heat-Kings in serving the Miami audience. NBA League Pass in one last option too.
Here now is Fernie Ruano with the betting preview:
Winning is contagious, right?
Well, for the lowly Sacramento Kings (12-31, 14th in the Western Conference), caught in-between a soft rebuild and trying to improve their current roster before the NBA trade deadline, in addition to playing their sixth of seven straight home games on Tuesday night when they host the Miami Heat (22-21, 8th in the Eastern Conference) for a 10:00 p.m. (ET) tipoff, their recent run of success might not exactly be coming at the right moment.
While most front executives around the league believe the Kings (+3.5, +122), expected by oddsmakers at most US Sportsbooks to come back to reality vs. the Heat (-3.5, +144), are all in on trying to land a Top 3 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Sacramento continues to surprise during its current home-stand.
In the process, the Kings, 4-1 in their last five games despite losing at home to the Portland Trail Blazers, 117-110 on Friday night, their last time out, have picked up a game on the New Orleans Pelicans in trying to avoid the cellar in the Western Conference.
This is the same Sacramento team — 9-13 (.409) at home this season by the way —that nearly two weeks ago was mired in a seven-game losing streak.
But don’t be fooled:
The Kings current roster, which includes veteran players such as Domantas Sabonis, Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan, all getting quality minutes and producing, which could lead to the Kings getting over-the-top value when and if they’re ready to make trades, also features young, up and comers such as rookies Dylan Cardwell, Maxime Raynaud and Nique Clifford — all three likely staying put in Sacramento.
Back to the present, the Kings, 4-6 in their last 10 games, are getting 20.6 points per game from DeRozan during the same time period.
Westbrook is averaging 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and seven assists per game this season for the Kings.
Miami, on a four-game losing streak, is 7-14 on the road this season.
Additionally, the Kings defeated the Heat 127-111 in Miami last month as Zach LaVine scored 42 points.
Bam Adebayo is averaging 17.0 points and 9.7 rebounds for the Heat, while Norman Powell is averaging 3.4 made three-pointers a contest.
Sacramento forward Keegan Murray (ankle) is out.
Tyler Herro, for months hampered by a toe injury, is out for the Heat.
The over/under is 236.5 points at the Golden 1 Center, as per DraftKings Sportsbook.
Heat vs. Kings betting analysis:
FYI, NBA bettors: Sacramento, despite being at one of their worst points in the season so far, beat the Heat as short road underdogs in Miami in early-December.
A month and a half later, the Kings, 4-6 in their last 10 games, are short home underdogs — with Miami, blown out in Golden State last night, 135-112, playing on the backside of consecutive nights.
